IN THE COURTYARD, the baby's cries echoed, loud and persistent, as Maggie held her close. The small group was gathered in the open space, their faces etched with grief and exhaustion. Rick sat on the ground, dazed and overwhelmed by the loss of Lori. Jaxon and Leo, drained both physically and emotionally, stood nearby, their expressions blank, their bodies slumped in defeat.

Amara, however, stood tall. Her eyes swept over her small group, the weight of her responsibility pressing heavily on her shoulders. She had taken on the role of leader with the determination to protect and guide her people, especially Leo and Jaxon. Now, more than ever, she needed to be their rock.

The three of them have been locked in this prison since the beginning, venturing out only to the small river a few steps away. They had thought they had seen and done the worst, but nothing had prepared them for this.

Maggie, tears streaking her face, handed the baby to Carl. He walked over to Hershel, who carefully examined the infant. "She's healthy," Hershel said, "but without formula, she won't survive long."

Daryl, shaking his head defiantly, interjected. "No way we're letting that happen. Not her. I'll find some food for her." Glenn and Maggie nodded in agreement, their resolve matching his. "We'll help," Glenn added, his voice steady despite the turmoil.
