The Day After Halloween

I woke up the next day like nothing had happened while I was sleeping. I almost forgot who I am. I didn't know why I would say that, but I felt I changed my lifestyle. A new month already feels like nothing has changed since yesterday. I typically worked on every Halloween each year, but I wasn't scheduled to work that day. Everything felt like the same day, even if it wasn't the first months of the year. I was on my bed pantless with my shirt on, just staring through the ceiling. I kept rolling around on my bed, just restless. I couldn't believe what happened a week ago with Emma; I had my first kiss. I couldn't even feel more comfortable kissing Emma on the month in the middle of the night. It felt like the wind pulled us together with the leaf flying by. Emma seems to like me, even though I like her too, but why? I have never been in a relationship with someone for almost fifteen years in school until now. As I tried to process everything with myself, I heard a knock coming downstairs. I think it was coming from the outside door of my front porch. I yawned loudly and couldn't stop yawning for a minute when I realized that my probation officer, Ms.Murray, was there to check on me.

"Shit, I almost forgot about her," I said. I rushed to put on some shorts and didn't have the time to brush my teeth afterward, so I immediately went downstairs to keep myself hydrated. As I descended, I opened the door rapidly and startled Ms.Murray for a second, but she didn't seem bothered by me. She looked at me like I just committed a terrible crime, but she knew she was joking with herself since she saw me unprepared for the morning visit. I smile awkwardly at Ms.Murray as we discuss my week from before. Ms. Murray always asks me how work and the upcoming spring semester are going for me since I forgot my plan when I hung out with Emma. I told her everything was great, except for the part where I argued with my dad, but I wouldn't tell her about this. It felt bizarre talking to her because, after this whole week, I almost forgot I was on probation for nearly a year. Ms. Murray looked at me, sensing that something tremendous had happened to me for nearly a week without seeing her. She could tell by looking at how excited I was, with my mouth filling with enjoyment. She asked me why I was so happy all of a sudden in the middle of the morning, she asked. I didn't want to tell her what I had been doing for the last few days with Emma, but she seemed to be curious about my enjoyment. I didn't take longer to change the subject, so I told her my first kiss.

I explained to her that I met a girl. She was white, with brown hair straight down and light red lips. I am embarrassed to tell her about Emma because I gave out some weird details to describe Emma. Instead, Ms. Murray didn't seem bothered by my facts, so she congratulated me for making a new friend. I thanked her for understanding my relationship with Emma, and out of nowhere, I hugged Ms.Murray, and she hugged me, too. As we let go of each other, Ms. Murray's smile vanished. I didn't ask her why she changed her mood suddenly, so Ms.Murray took the time to feel the air gooshing by on this lovely November morning when Thanksgiving is about two more weeks ahead of us. I asked her if everything was okay, and she said that she was okay; she just needed to talk to me for a moment with her. She said finishing it would only take about five minutes, so I listened. As she scrolled down in her phone, she asked me if I knew about the incident from a couple of weeks ago at Walmart up the hill. My mind began to pause rapidly since she had mentioned that to me. She looked at me as I tried to see if I should tell the truth or pretend I didn't know about the incident, so I pretended I didn't know anything about it. Ms. Murray had asked me if I was involved in an argument with a worker. I think I might be in trouble big time. She wasn't forced to answer; she just wanted to know if I may be involved in some argument. I knew at that point I couldn't hold out this lie, so I chose to tell the truth. I told her I was there at Walmart, but I wasn't sure If I saw a fight that occurred on the same day this happened. Ms Murray said Huh, She said.

"Because one of the officers from watching was investigating the incident, and they had said they identified a suspect that was on probation for causing a threat to the school, and they saying that the suspect name is Lilia Manzano."
