Manisha's new flat was...not great. It was small and dingy. But also cheap and cosy. But the best thing about her new flat was that it came with Dadi Dilnaz. Dilnaz was Manisha's new next door neighbour. An elderly lady with an infectious cheeky grin who cooked the most delicious treats Manisha had ever tasted.

Manisha spent hours sitting in Dadi's kitchen listening to stories of her adventures. Dilnaz and her late husband had been avid travellers. They had circled the globe and met some very unusual characters along the way. Manisha was fascinated. She had barely left her hometown so Dadi's life sounded so exotic in comparison to her own small existence.

Manisha knew that Dilnaz had family in the area, but they were all very busy and didn't visit as often as she would like. She had a daughter and a son in law and they appeared to have two young sons and a daughter. Dilnaz was always making reference to her younger grandson Abbu and how sweet he was. Manisha heard a lot of stories about Abbu.

"Abbu hain mera bara sona munda." she would say with a sigh. "ik var Abbu apne daddu k sath lukka chuppi khelte khelte Almari mein lock hogaya. Phir ik ghante baad mujhe pata chala to maine almari kholi tab tak woh wahi baith k rota raha... bichara mera bacha!"

Manisha knew that Abbu liked Kheer, and didn't like fish and he wanted to be a business tycoon like his dad when he grew up. She pictured a short dark-haired boy with a grin like Dilnaz's. The image made her smile.

One quiet Sunday, Manisha decided to visit the market. She knocked on Dilnaz's door to ask if she needed anything, and Dilnaz asked if she could get her the missing ingredients she needed to make Rajma Chawal.

"Mera Abbu araha hain aj... woh mere hatho ka Rajma chawal bare maze se khata hain!" She said proudly.

"Achaaa?" Manisha replied. "Waise khush to bohot honge ap. Hayeein?" She mimicked Dadi's all time crush's dialogue and Dadi couldn't help but giggle.

"Dramebaaz." And they both laughed in unison.

Dadi's eyes lit up. "Tu bhi ajana, mujhe kam mein haat batana bhi hojayega aur lage haato Abbu se bhi mil legi.!" she announced.

"Thik hain!" Manisha said with a smile. She loved helping Dilnaz in her cooking and she loved children. It sounded like a great way to spend her afternoon.

Once Manisha returned from the market, she put away her purchases and then knocked on Dilnaz's door with a bag full of cooking ingredients in her hand.

Dilnaz ushered her in already wearing her cooking apron. "Pehle kheer bana lete hain, Abbu ko thandi kheer zyada acha lagta hain."
