You sit on the couch, your hands moving quickly on the crochet project you're working on. "I Fall In Love Too Easily" by Chet Baker plays softly in the background.
You pick up your phone for what feels like the 20th time in the past five minutes. Simon would be back anytime soon, but you kept anxiously checking the clock hoping time would move faster.
Putting down your crochet project you stand up from the couch, heading to the kitchen to pour yourself a glass of wine. You open the cabinet and pick up a glass, opening the bottle and pouring some in. You take a sip, the bitter drink warming your body and sending chills all over.
You hear footsteps outside the front door and you almost break your glass from how fast you put it down on the counter. You run up to the front door, anxiously waiting for Simon to open it.
As soon as it is you throw yourself towards him, wrapping your arms and legs around him. This is a normal routine when he comes home, so Simon automatically knows to catch you as soon as the door is open.
He digs his face into the crook of your neck, taking in a deep breath. He squeezes you tighter against him hoping it makes up for the two months that he's been gone.
"I missed you so much." You say.
"I missed you too." He says, his words muffled from your hair. You both stay there for another couple seconds, taking each other in.
He finally puts you down and brings in his bags, closing the door behind him. He takes off his shoes and workwear, placing it on top of the bags.
You walk back into the kitchen and pour another glass of wine, walking back to him and handing it to him. He takes off his mask and places it on the counter top, taking the drink from your hand and taking a sip.
Simon might wear his mask most of the time when he was with the rest of the group, but with you he was comfortable enough to not have it on at all. There was something about you seeing him, all of him, and still accepting him that made him love you even more.
It wasn't necessarily just a physical thing either. Most people were afraid of getting to know the man behind the mask, especially after hearing stories of his past. He felt singled out at times, knowing people were afraid to get to know him because of things he had no control over.
You were one of the rare people that actually tried. Which made him love you even more.
He puts down the glass and wraps his arms around your waist, instinctively you wrap yours around his neck. You look up at him and can't help but feel grateful to have him back.
There was no other feeling that compared to this current moment. The warmness you feel in your chest and the butterflies in your stomach, it's like you fall in love all over again whenever he opens that door after a mission.
Simon could say the same. When he leaves he can't help but think about you constantly. He wonders if you've eaten, if you got enough sleep, what your day consisted of.
"I'm in the mood for love" by Julie London plays next. Naturally your bodies start swaying to the music. Simon brings you in closer and you rest your head on his chest. You let Simon lead, letting him turn you slowly.
This was your favorite thing about Simon. He may have a hard exterior, but inside he was the sweetest person ever. He always made sure when he leaves that you'll be okay.
He goes to the store and makes sure the fridge is fully stocked, buying anything that he thinks you'll crave. He also makes sure to get you candles so that even if he's gone the smell of your favorite scents can cheer you up.
If any of the other guys don't go on the mission he makes sure to ask them to keep you company. You swear you don't need it and that you feel bad, but it's nice to have the other guys around. You get along really well with all of them, and they constantly fight about who'd be the best man at the wedding.
Both of you continue swaying to the music, the only other noise being the small creaking from the wooden floor under you. He rubs your back softly, making sure that his presence is known. He places a kiss on the top of your head, placing his chin there right after.
You separate from him slightly and look up. You lift yourself on your toes, placing a small kiss on his lips. He smiles down at you, appreciating the small gesture.
Before you lived with Simon he hated coming home. He got so used to being around other people while he was deployed for long periods of time that coming home and sleeping in an empty house made him feel lonely. There was times he would even ask Soap to sleep over the first night back, just so he wouldn't feel so alone.
After you moved in he always looked forward to coming back and seeing you. He drove home with a smile on his face, nearly speeding every time just so he could get to you faster.
"What did I do to deserve you." He whispers. He places a small kiss on your forehead and lifts your arm, making you spin to the music. You can't help the smile that creeps up on your face. Simon uses this moment to look you up and down, admiring every inch of you.
Once you're turned around he pulls you back in, placing a hand on the small of your back. He holds your other arm out, swaying you to the music. "It's Been A Long, Long Time" by Kitty Kallen playing.
"This song is kind of ironic don't you think?" You laugh.
"A little bit." He smiles.
You place your head on his chest and feel the slight vibrations of him humming along to the music. Closing your eyes you take in a deep breath, happy to have him home once again.
