After leaving the Pokémon center this morning, I started walking around Goldenrod city a bit, admiring the scenery. This city was really cool looking, actually... I can't wait to look around at all the different buildings and such! There's the department store, the radio station... Ooh, where do I go first...?
As I started walking, I suddenly then bumped into someone familiar.
"Hey, what where you're- Oh, it's you Ara!" Kris looked down at me with a smirk. "I'm glad I ran into you, actually... I wanna talk to you about something."
"Alright then... What is it?" I asked.
"I was thinking. About our battle yesterday. You still never actually beat me..." Kris says, crossing her arms.
"Ok. And...?"
"And... That means our bet isn't complete yet! We agreed to a bet that if you win, I'd find somewhere else to train. And to stop annoying the baby Pokémon in the daycare, or whatever... So I've come up with a new bet! I want you... To defeat the Goldenrod city gym!" Kris says excitedly.
"Wait... There's a gym in this town?! I had no idea..." I respond.
"Um... DUH! And not only is Whitney a gym leader, but she's also one of the toughest gym leaders in all of Johto! Her Miltank in particular is a certified butt kicker!"
"Alright then... Um, but why do you want me to fight gym leader? Are you gonna fight her too?" I asked.
"I've challenged her a couple times already, but I lost both battles..." Kris huffed on annoyance. "Don't tell anyone I said that, or I'll kick your butt! Anyways, if you can beat her, then we'll know who's really the strongest between the two of us! And I'll also put my pride aside and admit your strength! And either way, I get to watch one of you get your butt kicked, so I'll be happy regardless of the battle's outcome!"
"Alright then... I'll accept your bet!" I say, smiling and nodding at her. "I'll go and fight Whitney as soon as-"
"Hey hey, hold it!" I was about to walk away, but Kris suddenly grabbed the hood of my hoodie, yanking me back towards her.
"Hey! What are you doing?" I huffed.
"You aren't going anywhere, unless it's to do some training!" Kris says. "Come on, I know another good spot!"
"Aw, but I don't feel like it right now... I wanna go check out the radio station!"
"You can't today! You and your team gotta spend the whole day training if you wanna get ready for the gym battle tomorrow!" Kris responds sternly.
"Tomorrow?! Who said I was... Ah, never mind. Let's go train then..." I sighed in defeat, finally giving in. Hopefully I can visit the radio station another day...

The next day...
Man... Kris has a REALLY intense training routine! We spent the whole day yesterday having her train my whole team like crazy, and despite having a good night's rest last night, I still feel like I need to take a year long nap... But that shall wait for another day! Today is the day where I'm finally gonna challenge Whitney... To be honest, I'm both excited, and scared for this fight at the same time. Kris keeps telling me how strong Whitney is, so I'm guessing that this fight is gonna be more difficult that the others. I just hope I can win this. I don't want Kris laughing at me if I lose...
While we were walking on the way to the gym, Kris was also talking to me about something else...
"Are there a lot of trainers that do that?" I asked.
"Oh, heck yeah! Saying a cool, unique phrase when you send out your Pokémon... It strikes fear into your enemies! And shows off how cool and confident you are in your skills!" Kris says excitedly. "It makes you even cooler when you have unique phrases for each of your Pokémon! For example, if you have a water type Pokémon, you could say something like... Let's drown them, Croconaw! Or a ground type would be something... Like... Uhh... Let's bury them under a tombstone, Diglett! Ok, that one might be a little extreme, but you get what I mean, right?"
"Yeah, I do... Ah, I just don't think I'm cool enough to think of a good catch phrase, though..." I respond.
"Oh, come on! It doesn't hurt to try it out atleast once..." Kris says. "Come on! Try and think of atleast one during the gym battle... Alright?"
"Alright, I'll try..."
We finally arrived at the gym, walking in and signing up. While I was signing up, I found out that Whitney only had two Pokémon. It's a little surprising though, I thought she'd have more than that, but hey, that means less Pokémon to deal with, right? That also means less Pokémon for me to use as well, so I gotta use the right ones. I think at this point, Cyndaquil and Mareep are my strongest Pokémon, so I'll use those two...
After signing up, I was quickly escorted into the battlefield. The battlefield also had a small set of bleachers on one side of it, were Kris sat down, while I could see Whitney waving to me on the other side of the room.
"Hiii, your names Ara, correct? It's nice to meet you!" Whitney happily greeted me. "You ready to battle? Be warned, my Pokémon may be super cute, but they're also super strong as well!"
"Of course I'm ready..." I say, taking a deep breath. "Let's do this!"
