Steve arose to the sound of birds chirping an hour or two before school had started. Steve groaned out, yawning audibly as he blinked profusely while glancing around to figure out his hazy surroundings. He woke up on the couch, recognizing the large window sill next to kitchen table which shined brightly into the room. Steve groaned once more, covering his head and smushing his face into one of the couch's pillows he used to sleep on.

He felt something nudge against him, and slowly sat up while trying to use his hand to muffle the bright window ahead of him. He turned to spot his little brother on the couch next to him, shuffling about in his sleep. Steve looked down at him, unconsciously allowing the sides of his lips to curl upwards at the sight of his brother.

Steve opened his eyes wide, adjusting his vision to the light in the living room before looking at a nearby clock.

Shit, they had to get ready soon.

Well, he might as well start the day fresh and new and get up bright and early. That's all he could do after the Halloween Party at Tina's last night, where the girl he loved... spoke her truth. And the truth had definitely set her free.

At least Jonathan took her home after he asked though.

Steve flicked his brother's forehead, in which his brother groaned and cursed at him, "Come on, get up you idiot. We've got school."

"I don't wanna fly to the store, Mom..." Nathan whispered incoherently while smushing his face into the couch's surface.

"I guess I'll just have to eat all this nougat by myself..."

"Don't you fucking dare." Nathan snapped up, his curly hair crazy and frizzy.

Nathan looked around, seeing no 3 Musketeers nearby, "You're a little fucker, Steven." Steve laughed, "That's not even my name."

"It is now."

"Sure, whatever, just get up and get ready. Fix..." Steve paused while gesturing to Nathan's head, "The bird's nest you got goin' on up there." Steve stood up off the couch while pushing Nathan off of him. Nathan flipped a bird for him as Steve cackled while walking away.

Nathan had eventually gotten up, making his way into his room and begun fixing himself up. He looked at a mirror against the wall, trying to fix his hair. He glanced at it and looked at it's length,

"It would be so much easier if I just got a haircut..." He whispered, considering the option for a moment. In the end, Nathan simply shrugged after fixing it a little and putting a cap on. He exited with a t-shirt and some jeans. He put a watch on his left wrist and exited his room.

Steve was already ready by the time Nathan had gathered his stuff for school. The two made their way from the house and into Steve's car, with Steve quickly making his way onto the road as the two were pressed for time.

"So, uh, I heard from dad that you left your bike on the side of the road?"

"How'd that happen exactly?" Steve asked.

"Car almost hit me, hit my bike instead," Nathan turned it into layman's terms for his idiot brother to understand.

"You don't know the car?"

Nathan shifted slightly in the driver's passenger seat, "No, you sound like dad right now."

"Alright, I won't push it..." Steve finished, realizing his brother's irritation at the subject. It seemed odd that Nathan would just be okay with the idea that someone, who almost ran him over, is running off scott-free. Nathan was the Prince of Hawkins, one of the most known people in all of Hawkins, like Steve, and could've easily had the fucker who tried to kill him in bars in a second with one call from Papa Harrington. It was odd indeed.
