NATHAN, under his father's instructions, had picked up a summer job as a lifeguard, partially because his father believed that he was too old to be a paperboy. However, it did take a bit of convincing. Steve had also picked up a job Scoops Ahoy inside the newly constructed Starcourt Mall. Because of this, for the majority of the summer, they'd been hard at work. Sure, the work did suck, but the bright side was that their father had been away at a business trip with his mother, thank god.

So, apart from Nathan, the house was practically empty, which meant that his redhead girlfriend was free to come over and keep the boy company whenever she pleased. However, Max usually preferred to come over a couple times throughout the week after the boy got off work.

She definitely preferred the boy's lavish house over her own home, there was just so much to explore. She had to admit, she was a little envious when it came to his heated pool. She figured being rich had perks, but she just didn't really take into account just how many perks the Harrington Family truly had.

Nathan didn't mind her coming over. Her brother didn't mind her coming over, preferring to not hear his step-sister and his co-worker swap spit in the room next door. Max most definitely didn't mind coming over, because, in her eyes, why would she ruin the most perfect opportunity ever? Why hide away in her room and be like Mike and El, scrambling to hide their frequent activities when Hopper came barging through their door? Why do that when she had a place where her and Nate could just be free, together.

If there was one person who minded it, it was Steve Harrington. He minded it because he knew exactly what she was doing with his little brother behind those closed doors.

Why? Because it was him who used to do the same with chick after chick and then later with Nancy. At first he didn't mind it, he was glad the two were spending time with each other, but then it just got way too much for the older Harrington. He finally realized what it felt like to be on the other side of the whole thing. Every time he would confront them, all she did was flash a little smart-ass smirk at Steve and deflect the question entirely. She definitely picked that up from Nate, probably from how many times they made out behind his back.

Steve had no doubt about it, he knew she was corrupting his little brother. He was just thankful that they were still only kissing, hopefully.

Steve flipped a scoop of vanilla ice cream onto a waffle cone.

"Uh, don't forget the sprinkles too." A ten year old stated sassily, next to her little cohort of friends. It was about three other little girls, all eating ice cream with a waffle cone. One had chocolate, one had vanilla, another had some weird orange flavor he never bothered to learn the name of, and, finally, Erica Sinclair had ordered vanilla with sprinkles.
