Rowan's pov
Bzzzz
I heard, waking up to the sound of my alarm clock. I checked the time, and with a sigh of relief, read 7:30 am. With an hour and a half to get ready, I decided to go on a quick run. I got changed and went to go check on David, making sure he was up.
Sighing yet again, I knew it would take a miracle for him to wake up by himself. I prepared myself to wake up the stubborn, lazy, and quite annoying boy once more. I knocked on the door, no noise came back as a response. I opened the door to his room and sure enough, he was sound asleep.
Now, theoretically, I could be a 'normal' person and just shake him and whatnot, but that's a little to boring for my taste. Instead, I ran down into the kitchen, grabbed a few pans, and started banging them together. Sure enough, a minute or two later, David came clumsily walking down the stairs.
"Why are you making so much noise, Rowan?!" He replied, clearly annoyed. "Well nice of you to finally join me, David! I'm going to go on a quick run. When I come back, I want to see your room decently packed up and in boxes. It'll only be like a 30 minute run, and your driving speeds unfortunately don't happen to be at all close to your cleaning speeds, so I'm not expecting much from you. If you get at least half of your room packed, I'll get you a few snacks of your choice from the gas station, ok?" I explained, watching his face light up at the last sentence.
He quickly ran back up the stairs as I chuckled at him. Thinking to myself, I tried my hardest not to laugh.'What a doofus..'
I went on my run, enjoying the music and scenery around me. Not long after I left, I got a call. Sighing, I stopped running and looked at my phone. I didn't recognize the number, but decided to answer it anyway.
"Hello?" I asked, wondering what the call would be about. "Hello, I believe we've met before. The name's Pato O'ward, do you remember me?" I heard from the phone. "Well yes, your name does sound familiar, can you tell me where we've met?" I asked once more, the look of confusion clearly planted on my face.
"David was right, you really are clueless." He laughed, "We met yesterday. I'm the driver of the 5 car for Arrow McLaren?" I sighed again and chuckled a bit. "So I assume David gave you my number? What did you need it for?" At that point I just wanted to continue the run.
Right before I hung up, I heard a quick "You're really pretty, you know that?" I smiled, turned the music back on, and finally continued running.
With the run almost over, I couldn't help but think about what Pato said. Did he really mean it? Out of all the girls, why me? Many more questions circled around my mind as I put in the code to the front door. I checked the time, 8:03 am. I quickly walked in and found David working hard in his room. "Wow, you really wanted those snacks, didn't you?" I chuckled as his face quickly whipped around. He nodded at me with a questioning look.
"Yes David, I'll get you the snacks. We have an hour until we leave, I suggest you get all cleaned up now while I make breakfast." I told him, walking down to the kitchen.
As I started making our breakfast, I got a call from the number again. I answered it, curious as to what he had to say this time. "What is it this time, Pato?" I frustratedly asked. "Nothing, just wondering why you hung up on me earlier.. And when you'll be at work because Zak said he had something to talk about with you." He said, the intention of the call becoming very clear.
"Look Pato, I was on a run earlier, I'm making breakfast and packing my stuff to move soon, and I'll be at work with David around 10." I said, dropping a big sigh at the end. "Oh, ok. I'm sorry if I bothered you, I'll see you soon Rowan." I could sense the sadness dripping from his monotone voice, and couldn't help but feel bad. I didn't want to make him upset, and I had to admit, I did think he was kinda cute as well.
I quickly finished breakfast and put it on the table. Calling David down to eat, I ate my food as fast as I could and ran back up to my room.
Sitting down on my bed, I sighed and started getting a little teary-eyed. Considering what I knew from his personality, it sounded like he was actually quite hurt from what I had said to him. I heard a soft knock on my door, and quickly pulled myself together. "Yes David?" I asked him, hoping he didn't know what had happened while he was in the shower.
"I heard a bit of the phone call, I just wanted to make sure you felt ok, Rowan." I brushed him off, told him that I was ok, and that I was going to take my shower. He didn't seem entirely convinced, but went back downstairs anyway.
I walked into the bathroom and stopped to look at myself in the mirror. I looked like an emotional wreck. I could hardly look at myself at that point, so I just jumped in the shower instead. I quickly washed myself but couldn't shake the thought of Pato. I made the shower very fast as to not waste time, and got dressed. I put on an orange polo and some jeans, me being to lazy to actually dress up well.
When I was done getting ready, I went downstairs and cleaned up the dishes. "David, when we move into our new house, you actually have to help. Also what time is it?" I told him, annoyed of all the dishes. "It's 8:42, and sure." He replied back with an obviously bored sound in his voice.
