Rowan's pov

Although I wasn't showing it, I was amazed by the fact that I would be working here. I was thrilled to be going on the tour, as it just made everything feel more real. We started walking around, stopping every once in a while for Zak to explain things to us. Sure enough, when we got to the sim, Pato O'Ward and Alexander Rossi, the other 2 drivers, were racing.

Around 5 minutes later, they finished and Zak introduced us to them. We shook hands, talked for a few minutes, and then went on with the tour.

"And there you have it, that concludes our tour. Do either of you have any questions before we start getting into the actual work things?" Zak asked, both of us shaking our heads, signaling that we didn't. "Alright. Rowan, I'll introduce you to the team you'll be working with. David, you're welcome to come with, or you could go back to the sim and hang out with the other drivers." We were told, with David quickly running off, leaving Zak and I chuckling.

When we made it to the engineering area, the other engineers and strategists were hanging out there. "Hello everyone, this is the new engineer of the #6 car, Rowan." I was introduced, with everyone getting up to say hi and talk to me. I was a little nervous, but they quickly made me feel at home.

At the end of the day, David and I went on our way home. "Hey, David, why don't you look at houses nearby so we don't have to keep doing this?" I asked him, tired and annoyed by the hour long drive. He nodded, and with that I focused on the drive.

A few minutes later, I noticed that we were low on gas. Pulling into a gas station, I realized I was hungry. "Hey David, can you go in there to get me a Monster and some twizzlers? I'll give you some extra money so you can get yourself something too." I asked him, with him quickly agreeing. I quickly gave him $20, knowing he would probably waste it all but I didn't care anymore.

I hopped out of the car to fill up the gas while watching the windows to see what David was doing. Soon enough he ran back to the car, making me laugh at him on the way. I took the pump out of the car and got back in.

"Please tell me you didn't do anything stupid?" He looked down. "Of course. What was I expecting." I said, cackling. What a day.
