Third person PoV

Claude sighed in annoyance as he stared at the nobles in front of him . This was the monthly meeting he had with the nobles , but if he could he would never attend it . To him , all they were was nothing but useless dogs , who only pester him . But of course it wasn't as if the feeling wasn't mutual , none of the nobles actually like him , But they knew better than to voice their opinions , they knew exactly what would happen if they did so .

"Do anyone of you actually have a problem worth discussing?" Claude asked in a hard tone , as he glared at the ones in front of him .

"Your majesty , I was thinking it's time the eldest princess gets betrothed, afte-" A noble spoke , most probably nothing more than a measly viscount or baron . But , before he could continue he was immediately cut off .

"What. Did. You. Say ? " Claude questioned him , for some unknown reason he could feel anger swelling in his chest , after he heard the noble's words . He glared at the noble who quickly scrambled to his feet , feeling fear as he felt the emperor's glare at him .

The noble could only look at Claude with fear , as he trembled in his gaze . He tried apologising, but that didn't work either . He had said way too much , too much for him too even have a slither of a chance of surviving.

"Who do you think you are ? To even think of saying such a thing ?" Claude questioned his voice cold and hard , almost as if it cut through glass , he glared at the squirming noble beneath him .

He decided he didn't have anymore time to waste on the noble . He got up from his throne as he walked towards the exit , Not before giving an order to his trusted knight .

"Felix, Deal with him ." And with that he was out , he made his way towards his study  , he walked in long strides , quickly reaching the room .

Rage loomed around him , as the other man's words went around his head over and over again . He didn't know why he cared so much , but he did and was absolutely furious as to a how just a mere noble even dared to say something like that . No one could speak about his family matters .

'Wait ... since when did I consider her family ?' Claude thought as he swirled a small object on his desk .

His thoughts were cut off as the door of his study opened revealing Aina , her face wasn't visible only the top of her hair . As she walked in carrying huge stacks of paperwork , which blocked her line of sight but she was already familiar, too familiar, with the palace halls , it wasn't a difficulty for her .

"Your majesty " Aina bowed , doing with such ease , it was already a force of habit , growing up in the palace .

Claude nodded in response , but realised that she probably couldn't see him nodding . She curtly walked towards his desk , as she paced the stacks , seeming endless , on his desk . As soon as she paced the papers on his desk , she turned around ready to walk out , but paused when a voice called out to her .

"Wait" Claude called out , before his mind could register what he just said , when he saw her turn around , he froze , thinking about what to say now . He didn't know why he called out to her , but he had , so now he had to say something.

She looked at him , her face void of any emotion , but her eyes conveyed more than enough , it was clear that she was asking What ? , annoyance and curiosity swirling in her eyes .

"Nothing , you can go back" Claude replied finally after some time , his tone curt and cold as always . She nodded as she turned around and left his study , wondering as to what had possessed her father to possibly even think of doing that.

After she left , he could only stare at his hand , his face was void of any emotion exactly like his daughter , and questioned as to what he had just done .

He sighed deeply , as he ignored the recent events , and focused again on the endless stacks of paperwork he was stuck doing .

Unbeknownst to him , there was another soul pondering upon the recent events.

A part of me wants him to redeem himself and become a better father ,
But the other part wants Aina to go through with her revenge and get everything she deserves .
