So, I've decided to discontinue rewriting this; just here though. I should elaborate that I'm not canceling UU as a concept; just gonna be moving the rewrite to another story project, that way, I can change more to my liking; because if I'm being honest, I've never really liked Keir's character, he's just Adair from the original; just with less plot armour.

I also don't really like the name Keir anymore, so expect that to change. ʅ(◞‿◟)ʃ

Alongside this announcement, I'm going to revert the only published part of the rewrite—which is just the prologue, I think—back to the original (so glad I made that backup of this on a google doc ages ago lmao; looks like I won't really need it anymore though), and also publish what remains of chapter 10 before I decided to go ahead with a rewrite; y'know, if I had a nickel for every time I wrote a sylveon x umbreon ship, and only got to chapter 9 before deciding that I wanted to rewrite it, I'd have two nickels, which isn't a lot; but it's weird that it happened twice.

Keir awoke suddenly, having been gently poked and prodded until he woke up.

"H-Huh, wha.. what is it, Az?" He mumbled groggily, Azalea took a deep breath.

"I, uh, finally have an answer for you.." She whispered, Keir's ears almost instantaneously perked up. He hadn't exactly expected her to have come up with an answer this early. He had expected it to take at least a couple days.

"Arceus, I beg that I don't come to regret this choice, but..." She began.

"But..?" Keir mimicked with intrigue; though he was still half asleep, he didn't want to wait for her answer.

"But, I am going to train you to fight, starting tomorrow." She whispered.

Any sleepiness Keir was experiencing had instantly been shaken off. He couldn't believe it, Azalea was actually going to train him!

"Although, I want to set a few rules." Azalea started. "Firstly, at any point you hurt yourself badly, or start getting overly exhausted, we're stopping for a day or two, and secondly, if you actually do learn how to fight; I don't want you to overexert yourself, okay?" She smiled wearily as Keir began to think over her demands. They weren't that unreasonable, though he was surprised that she hadn't mentioned anything about instincts.

"Yeah, those sound good, I can't wait for you to teach me!" He beamed giddily, bubbling over with excitement. Azalea tittered quietly to herself as she wrapped her paws and ribbons around him, and nuzzled into him. "Just remember to get some sleep, hun, you're gonna need a lot of energy tomorrow." She smirked as she nuzzled her head into Keir's chest, shutting her eyes and slowly drifting off to sleep to the rhythmic sound of his breathing and heartbeat.

Keir, however, couldn't sleep; he was like a small cub on Christmas Eve. Whilst he was excited to learn how to fight—and by proxy, help Az be less stressed—he was also a little nervous; what if her worries about her instincts came to fruition and she did end up badly injuring him?

He looked down at his partner, watching her head rise and fall as his chest did. He smiled warmly at her as he leaned to lie down on his back, slowly starting to drift off as his head hit the pillow.

Thump thump thump

The two eeveelutions awoke with a jolt, groggily looking at each other in confusion.

"Rise and shine, little Eons!" Clodagh trilled through the old wooden door, resulting in a light grumble from Keir.

"Just when I was getting used to sleeping through dawn..." He sighed under his breath, just loud enough for only Azalea to hear him. She nodded, flobbing her head back against his chest.
