9 years. It had been 9 years since the Hero of Olympus, Percy Jackson, went missing. 10 years since the end of the Giant War. He had been largely left in the past. The only time anyone would really learned of his existence was when people asked about the Titan and Giant war, and those topics were usually avoided. The past was painful, after all.

But the Gods were worried. A new power had been growing in the back of their minds, not quite threatening violence, but threatening in and of itself. So, they authorized a quest. A quest with this kind of power would need more than one, so they picked the 7.

Well, the 6, plus Grover and Nico, but minus Jason. Apollo still thought about him, trying to keep his memories of mortality. Athena had some guesses as to what the threat could be and discussed with Dionysus.

He agreed. This new power, it was the unfamiliar feeling of a cult growing in power, and it was the only one that had ever grown anywhere Dionysus's cult. The prophecy had been issued, but it was different than others.

A new power starts to rise
Built upon a multitude of lies
The leader guides his flock
Within the beaches of Montauk
Seven go, determined to return
Six return, hurt, and one burned.

Annabeth pointed at the map.

"Yep, we're here," She said.

Piper looked over her shoulder. "If we're here, then why isn't there anything in front of us?"

They were standing on the shore of a beach and could only see sand stretched around. Well, except for the road, some grass, and Leo's minivan. As well as the cars in the parking lot, but they were empty.

Annabeth looked at her friends. "Hey, Nico, can you - woah."

Nico looked like he wanted to throw up. His face was completely pale and green, almost no other colors.

"Woah, hey!" Hazel cried, rushing to his side. "What is it?"

He swallowed with difficulty. "There's so much... oh, fuck."

Everyone stared at him, shocked. He almost never cussed.

"Nico, what is it?" Annabeth asked hesitantly while Grover bleated uncertainly.

"There - oh gods, there's so much death!" Nico exclaimed, trying not to throw up.

"Does that mean we're in the right place?" Frank asked, hand gripping his bow tightly.

"Wait, Nico, I thought death didn't affect you?" Leo said.

Piper slapped him upside the back of the head, but Nico nodded. "You're right. Normally, it wouldn't, but -"

He suddenly threw up on the beach, holding his stomach. "It's not just that. I can also sense... resurrections."

Everyone stilled.

"But... only Hades can revive someone. Right?" Frank asked nervously.

Nico shook his head. "Apparently not."

The ground suddenly started to rumble, and Grover immediately went pale.

"Pan help us," he whispered.

Annabeth looked at him as the ground rumbled again. "Grover? What do you mean by that?"

Grover gulped. "I- I can smell pain. And ecstasy, and happiness, and sorrow, and grief, and... something incredibly dark."

Nico groaned, and the ground rumbled even more. "Please don't tell me it has something to do with Nyx or her children. Because I left the Cocoa Puffs with Will."
