JENNIE

I knocked on her front door, the tension literally strangling me. Not too long later, Lalisa opened the door and my heart blossomed.

"There you are finally!"

"Who's there?" Squeaked an incredibly cheerful child's voice that obviously belonged to Lia.

"Jennie!" The little girl with two blonde pigtails ran into my now open arms and I lifted her up.

It always filled me with a pleasant feeling when Lia presented her affection for me so strongly, even in front of her big sister.

"Princess, how are you?" I asked smiling and went into the house.

"I missed you, Jennie! Lalisa invited stupid people over yesterday and Liam and I had to stay in our rooms the whole time. Otherwise Lalisa said it would end badly!" She whined with her huge brown eyes, which were in her genes lying and pouting lips. I sighed theatrically.

"That's mean!"

"Hey. Are you on her side now?" Lalisa went into the kitchen with her arms crossed, I followed her with Lia in my arms.

The house was as familiar to me as my own and I shared the best memories with Lalisa here, because at her house she didn't hold back like she did at school and wasn't necessarily keen on traffic like she was at the fire station. This attitude of hers really rubbed off on me; I was much more confident here.

"I always have been, darling." I replied cheekily, totally enjoying this verbal freedom.

"Oh really?" Lalisa came to my side, smiling. Her scent tickled my nose and gave me goosebumps. In this building we were in our very own world.

She laughed kissed me on the cheek and Lia on the forehead.

"I cooked pasta with sauce because I can't do anything else so set the table and let's eat." I placed the now applauding girl on her own tiny legs.

"What about Liam?" I wanted to know. Lalisa snorted and took plates out of one of the wooden cupboards.

"He's been bitching since yesterday, let him die. He'll show up when he gets hungry."

I shook my head and put a hand on her shoulder,

"I'll let him know anyway, okay?" She turned her head to me, her eyes literally spilling out her hidden worries.

Even if she didn't show it, she loved her brother very much and was afraid for him. Liam was a simple loner, didn't like leaving his own four walls and seemed always sadder than a trampled stray. Lalisa kissed me again, this time on the lips.

"Thank you..." My limbs melted.

"Anything for you."

Then I left the cozy kitchen, went up the stairs and knocked on the door, decorated with a sign saying 'The whole world is a madhouse but this is the CENTRAL.'

"What is it?" His already pubescent voice growled.

"It's me. Jennie! I wanted to see how you were doing." I said casually.

After a short pause I heard a "You can come in!" and did what I was allowed to do.

His room was still full of posters all kinds of bands and video games, he was even playing one on the console. His tousled, dyed black hair matched his clothing style perfectly. The game seemed familiar to me so I quit the ice with talking about it. He seemed happy to have someone who understood him on such topics. My eyes already found the next ice breaker, a guitar.

"Are you still playing?" I asked curiously as I sat next to him on the sofa.

"Yup, me and a few people even have found a band, it's called 'Shine On My Grave'!" Liam said and tried to be best to suppress the positive excitement.

"Oh my God, how cool!" My face beamed, the boy always had talent and maybe the band helped him with his uptightness.

"I definitely have to hear you live!" His mouth corners twitched up cautiously.

His brown eyes were 90% hidden by his hair, but the shine was unmanageable.

"We'll even be playing soon."

He told me the date and location, and I wrote it down directly on my smartphone.

"Oh, there's food, if you feel like it, eat with your sisters and me!" I suggested and stood up. He played nervously with the pick on his silver chain.

"I wish you were my sister instead of Lalisa."

"Don't say that, Liam." I muttered.

"Are you two actually together?" He tilted his head and looked up at me confused.

"No, but I love her." I answered monotonously. He didn't say a word.
