There was silence between Joseph and Aesop once they exited out of the library. All there was was the sound of footsteps and the occasional teardrops and sniffs from both Joseph and Aesop. Thoughts raced in their minds so vivid that it seemed like it wasn't a thought, but real life.
Both of them understood what the others meant by "The greater good" but the greater good wouldn't be there if they didn't have eachother. it was more than a symbiotic relationship at that point. It felt like not even death could do them part.
Once the both of them trudged to Joseph's room, they had left a trail of tears on their way back, and they secretly hoped that it would dry up during the night. After closing the door, the both of them sat on the bed and sobbed together without a word. All the memories and experiences, all of them would be done for a probably gone in a few days. Every emotion, every time their hearts raced or wrenched, every moment that they were apart, it would be reduced to dust in a few days. Just because they were not careful enough. Just because they didn't look anywhere else but one another. Just because they loved eachother so much.
The two of them cried themselves to sleep, and woke up very late the next day. All their matches had been canceled by the others for them to spend the maximum amount of time together. Most of the time, it was silence, but there were some hours where the two retraced their relationship back to the start, and it created memories for them.
Meanwhile, Mary and Michiko got wind of the news, and took care of them while they had their last times together.
After the first day, they started to talk a lot again, and they spent every minute and second with eachother. During a moment of silence, Joseph said,
" You know, Aesop. If we do get separated and are forced to part ways with one another, there is always that photo that I gave you. And there is no need to return the camera to me. Keep it as a keepsake. I will probably have to be forced to disable that one, so you can keep it."
Aesop nodded, and conversation continued, but it felt like they were strangers again. They were slowly disconnecting with one another and coming to the reality of the situation. They were probably going to be separated, and they will probably never see eachother in the same light and in the same way ever again.
In the morning of the third day, once Aesop and Joseph woke up, They faced eachother, tears welling in their eyes. Even though they hadn't spent the last few days talking or anything much, at least eachother's presence was enough. Aesop stared into Joseph's blue eyes and said,
"Well, this is it. This is the end of the road. All I want to say is that.. I really love you Joseph, and you have made me the happiest man in my life. Thank you for all you have done and what you made me feel. Let the stars align for us to meet once again."
Joseph nodded silently, and both parted ways to get ready for what was to come for them. They had agreed to meet in the library to have the confrontation with the master of the manor, and the library was the place of their doom.
