MINI
Her eyes wouldn't open. Maybe she didn't want to open them. Her left arm felt heavy, so heavy. It felt as if it was on fire.
She nearly gained consciousness once. She thought she heard crying. She heard sniffling, and felt something fall on her hand.
She felt the reassuring warmth that someone was beside her.
In her dazed state, she felt someone slip their hand into hers, fingers threaded together. The promise of someone being there made her want to wake up.
Their hand was warm. And soft.
And she also heard someone whisper: "Please don't die."
It belonged to someone she knew— but a 'someone' whom she couldn't place. It frustrated her. I'll try not to, 'someone'.
She fell back into sleep.
Blips. Darkness. She couldn't see anything. Voices. No, just a voice. A person crying.
Wake up, wake up.
His voice got distorted, turning ghostly and soft. Wake up, wake up.
Please.
The voice got familiar. Painful.
It was his voice.
Wake up, wake up. The voice turned into a whisper, so soft, it barely reached her ears.
I'm trying.

RUDY
She was pale. Far too pale. Her hand was warm, but just barely, and her pulse was weak and thready.
Don't give up, Mini. He tried to plead, but the words didn't leave his mouth, as just a small sigh escaped him.
The bruise at his temple throbbed. He'd gotten off easier, though.
His gaze fell to the bandages wrapped around her shoulder, and a new rage enveloped him. He squeezed her hand.
I'm going to kill them.
The thought surprised him— his thoughts were never this violent.
Why won't you wake up? He wanted to ask her desperately. Please don't die. Please wake up.
It had been a day. A whole, damn day, and she still wasn't waking up. The doctors thought that she'd 'shut down' due to the shock, which was why she wasn't waking up. They'd decided to do tests to see what that monster had injected in her.
The very thought of him made the same anger rise inside him.
His anger only increased when he saw her, but now it was coupled with sadness. I should've been there.
He felt his hand tremble.
Softly, he began to whistle: a special melody, something that reminded him of her. It was a naive thought, but he wanted it to wake her up, something to know if she was alright.
The melody turned haunting, as he began, in a soft voice:
"A feeling that glows,"
God, he was bad. By now, he began to think: Wake up, if it's just to slap me and shut me up.
"When we're together," he continued, "There's a feeling that glows, inside me,"
He hadn't really considered how bad the lyrics were, when he'd originally written them down. He'd just scribbled them down on a piece of paper and shoved it under his pillow.
