I awoke to a loud beeping sound, and I groaned. Curling closer to the heat below me, I tried to ignore the annoying noise interrupting my sleep.

My heat source shifted, and the sound stopped. I snuggled closer, and last night slowly came back to me. I had fallen asleep on Damien after crying in his arms.

"Daisy? Hey, honey, we've gotta get up." His voice was a little rough from sleeping, but I liked the sound of it this early in the morning anyway.

I blinked a little, looking at my surroundings. We must have been in his room, and I was laying on his chest. I rolled off of him, facing the wall, and curled into a tiny ball, yanking the blanket over me.

"Leave me alone."

He let out a laugh, and his warm body engulfed mine.

"I'd let you sleep if I could, sweetheart."

"Can you stop with the pet names?" I quietly asked.

He froze, and I did too. I didn't know how he would react if he was angry.

"Yeah." In less than a second, he was out of the bed and heading to the bathroom. "The doctor will be here soon to change your bandages. Breakfast will be brought up. You have 45 minutes to be ready to go to the clearing." The door to the bathroom slammed shut behind him, and I cringed.

It was natural of me to be wary of him, we'd never gotten along and he had basically hated me for all of our childhood. Even though I was four years younger than he was, it didn't matter. His parents constantly punished him for mistreating me, and he only grew to resent me for it. I know it was ok that I wasn't ready to submit myself and just trust him again.

Knowing that I wasn't in the wrong didn't stop the guilt.

There was a knock on the door, and I waited a second, before I realized Doctor Blake probably needed permission to enter the Alpha's room.

"You can come in!" I called.

Doctor Blake entered with a case of medical supplies, and I moved to take off the hoodie from Alpha Damien. I was surprisingly not very sore, after an incident like this, I usually couldn't move for a few days.

We unwrapped my bandages, and to my complete shock, all that was left of the deep cuts was small, pinkish lines. I met the doctor's eyes, amazed. Quickly, she helped me to pull back the covers and unwrap my ankle, which looked brand new.

"How do you think-" I looked up in shock. "How did this happen?"

She shrugged.

"If I had to guess, Luna, your instinct is responding to your Alpha being around. He's your mate, which means when your soul, or in other words, your wolf, is injured, his soul will wrap around yours, and that's how mates heal each other.

I exhaled softly, slipping the hoodie back on. It smelled like him.

"Well, Luna, I think I've done everything that I can for you. I should go get ready for the pack meeting." She waited, looking at me, and I furrowed my eyebrows before realizing I may have to dismiss her.

"Thank you for your help. You may go now?"

She bowed her head, and left. I don't think I'll ever get used to someone bowing to me.

Damien came out of the bathroom with a towel wrapped around his waist, water dripping from his hair onto his face and shoulders. He didn't look at me and shut himself in the closet.

I sighed. This was going to be a long day.

I got up, stretching out, and the door to the closet flung open, Damien rushing out, looking at me like I'd grown a second head. Within moments, I was back in his arms and he'd placed me on the bed.
