The year was 2016
It had been two years since Marina Petrova and her companion had negotiated, with cunning and cold blood, the final surrender of enemy forces in Afghanistan, an unlikely outcome that guaranteed the American army an unprecedented strategic victory
With the end of the war, they left behind the golden corn expanse of the Louisiana farm and moved to the high walls of the Hollywood Hills, where a mansion with large windows and views of the Pacific silently awaited the arrival of two warriors.
At first, the transition was strange and almost uncomfortable
The pace of civilized life seemed too slow for someone who had spent eleven long years among trenches, helicopters and tactical maps stained with dirt and blood
The first weeks were filled with thoughtful silences and sleepless nights, the sound of gunshots still echoing in her memory.
Even so, Marina was not a woman to stay still
And in the intervals between business meetings and returning to her businesswoman's routine, she sought refuge in physical activities
She spent hours at the gym, strengthening the body that had once been both weapon and shield
And boxing, with its rhythmic movements and brutal precision, had become an almost meditative ritual.
But something was still missing: an occupation that would feed not only her body, but also her mind and, why not, the restless ego of a woman who had faced armies.
Curiously, the answer to that problem had already appeared two years earlier.
Back in 2014, during one of the many quiet afternoons that followed her return from Afghanistan, Marina and Anna found themselves dealing with something they had not experienced in over a decade: boredom.
It was a strange feeling.
For years, their lives had been dictated by missions, schedules, briefings and objectives.
Suddenly, there were afternoons with nothing urgent to do.
One afternoon, they learned about YouTube as a platform for posting videos of various kinds and decided to enter this creative field with a gameplay channel called Rinannie Plays, the name being a combination of their nicknames Rina and Annie.
