Synopsis
Being Cate Dunlap's younger sister wasn't all it was cracked up to be. Sure, it had its perks: instant popularity, a world of vices, and the never-ending pulse of parties. But for Cassidy, it was a constant reminder of their shared past. After Cate sent their little brother Caleb away, Cassidy harbored a fear so deep it became a silent scream - a fear of unveiling her powers to anyone. She spent years suppressing the force within her, allowing it to unfurl whenever she knew she was truly alone.
Cassidy's abilities diverged from Cate's. She couldn't simply reach out and manipulate minds. Yet, the weight of their shared powers cast a sinister shadow over their parents, who regarded both Cate and Cassidy with a mixture of fear and resentment. They knew Cassidy's abilities would eventually emerge, further fueling the fear and hatred they held.
As Cassidy's powers blossomed, she found herself swept away by an array of emotions - a whirlwind of vulnerability, dread, and betrayal. It was then she realized she was feeling Cate's emotions, a tether that bound them together in ways beyond their comprehension. Over time, Cassidy honed her newfound skill; she could sense the emotional currents of those around her and bend those emotions to her will. It became her clandestine weapon, deployed to aid Cate even in their forced separation.
At the tender age of 14, Cassidy unlocked yet another layer of their shared power - a telepathic link to Cate. Through this ethereal channel, their minds became entwined, transcending the confines of their isolated chambers, forming a sanctuary of connection amidst their confinement.
The arrival of Dean Shetty irrevocably altered the course of the Dunlap sisters' fate. A figure shrouded in enigma, Dean Shetty emerged as their beacon of hope, their potential savior. However, she only wanted Cate. Craving her powers and wanting to have them on her side. Cate pleaded with Dean Shetty to bring Cassidy alongside them, and in her pursuit of favor, Dean Shetty relented. Yet, beneath her outward approval, Dean Shetty harbored ulterior motives for the younger Dunlap. Cassidy, unwittingly, had become the pawn in a dangerous game. A silent threat hung in the air - if Cate resisted, Cassidy might face the same fate as Luke's brother. So, Cate yielded to Dean Shetty's demands, and Cassidy remained oblivious to the strings being pulled.
Cassidy had no idea what was truly going behind the front of Godolkin University. The whispers of the woods held secrets known only to a chosen few, and so was the story of Sam Riordan. All she knew was that he was Luke's younger brother who apparently had schizophrenia and later killed himself. Everything she really knew about Sam came from Cate. Cassidy never met Sam, but she could feel Luke's emotions about the younger boy. Her powers allowed her to feel the despair and sadness Luke was feeling. The feelings she knew all too well after the loss of Caleb.
In the wake of Sam's demise, a transformation overcame Luke. He donned the feeling of a guardian, embracing a newfound sense of protectiveness towards Cassidy, a role thrust upon him by the loss of his little brother.
Disclaimers:
I do not own the storyline or characters of The Boys or Gen V. I only own my additional characters and their storyline.
A/N: Hi, thank you so much for reading the intro to The Other Dunlap Sister. Watching Gen V I fell in love with Cate and Sam, so I wanted to write something to kind of explore both characters as well. I was also surprised because there isn't that many stories written about Sam.
