003. - Escaped Meth Heads and Meeting the Team

Cate had to leave suddenly, she told her little sister there was an emergency with Luke. Something about one of his recurring nightmares. Cassidy however was very skeptical, the way Cate was reacting was very unlike her. It was like she was afraid of something, but Cassidy couldn't tell what. Ever since they were 17, Cassidy refused to sense Cate's emotions, she felt like it was an invasion of the older girl's privacy.

Cassidy left the diner alone, ignoring the number written on a napkin left by the waiter. She was walking back to campus when she heard shouting coming from up the street. She then saw the police sirens, realizing it was on the campus. Cassidy panicked and ran towards the school, worried something awful might have happened while she was gone.

Suddenly a car was flipped in front of her and she felt someone run into her and push her down. She looked up and it was him. It was the boy from her dreams.

"Hey are you okay?" Marie ran up towards her helping the girl off the ground. Cassidy suddenly felt a wave of anger and panic, she was sensing it from the boy. She had to steady herself by holding onto Marie. The feeling of stomach bile slowly coming up her throat. All she could do was nod her head before Marie ran off. It was all happening too fast and Cassidy felt like she was going to black out, his emotions were too strong for the girl to handle.

"I'm not going back to the fucking woods!" was all the girl heard as her vision started to go out. Fuck, Cassidy knew what was about to happen. Sometimes when Cassidy or Cate use too much power they'll have a seizure. Cassidy didn't even realize how strong the strange boy's emotions were and how they affected her like that. All Cassidy felt was her body seizing up and falling onto the hard concrete sidewalk.

Cassidy woke up in her bed with the worst headache of her life. Her vision was still cloudy when she woke up, but she knew she wasn't alone.

"Cass, what happened? Andre came and grabbed me as soon as it happened" Cate cried out as she rubbed the side of her sister's face to signal she was there.

"It was- it was Luke's brother Sam," Cassidy croaked out, Cate was glad Cassidy couldn't see her because her face shattered.

"What do you mean Cass, Luke's brother is dead," Cate said, slowly taking off her leather glove. She was internally freaking the fuck out, she knew she pushed her little sister a little too much. It was Dean Shetty's idea though, bring Cassidy into the woods and have her calm down Sam, but she didn't realize the girl would eventually recognize the boy.

"No, it was him, Cate," Cassidy muttered, her vision starting to come together when she noticed Cate's glove was off. "Cate, what are you doing?" the girl panicked as she slowly sat up in her bed. The younger girl's head throbbed after every little move she did. Suddenly Cate's naked hand was on the younger girl's arm.

"I'm really sorry for doing this, but that wasn't Sam, that was just some drugged out kid who was running from the cops, now go back to bed" Cate cringed out as tears slowly streamed down her face. She caressed her sister's hair and held her close as she sobbed into the sleeping girl's shoulder.

"I've never wanted to do this," The older girl cried out, holding her sister like someone would take her away from her at any given moment. And it's true, if Cassidy ever remembered the woods, Dean Shetty would take the girl away in an instant. Cate knew she was doing this to protect Cassidy, but she still had this fucked up feeling in her gut.

Cassidy woke up with the worst headache of her life, the only thing she could remember from last night was the boy running from the cops. How he got onto campus, no one knew. Suddenly Cassidy was aware of another feeling or the lack of one. She felt really empty for some reason, like she had something to do but couldn't remember.
