009. - Left Behind

The elevator ride was silent between the trio, no one knowing what to say after everything they witnessed. Cassidy kept nervously picking at the skin on the side of her fingernail, until crimson blood started to slowly drip out. She viewed herself in the metal reflection of the elevator. Her once white dress was covered in stranger's crimson blood, and her hair was disheveled. The girl could barely recognize herself, but she was too tired to care.

Her body felt like it could give out at any moment, Cassidy knew she used her powers too much. She was gripping on the railing of the elevator, just holding on for dear life. "Hey, are you okay?" Sam asked as he went to grab the girl, but she just flinched from his sudden movement. The boy placed his hands down, looking from his hands to the girl with an ashamed expression on his face.

"I'm-I'm fine," the girl croaked out, her throat dry from nearly being choked to death from the boy prior. The silence slowly engulfed the two again, Cassidy too afraid to even look at the boy. She understood completely why he did it, even from a few memories she knew she had done an awful thing to the boy.

As soon as the elevator opened, Sam and a tiny Emma quickly evacuated the tense claustrophobic room. Cassidy just wearily fell behind the two, her body was too weak to stay in motion.

"Cassidy, your eye, it's bloodshot," A tiny Emma squeaked out at the larger girl. Cassidy just stumbled down the hallway, giving the girl a thumbs up. It was like the girl was blackout drunk, she was barely coherent and could barely hold herself up. Sam just kept turning back around, watching the girl and making sure she suddenly didn't die on his watch.

The three were finally outside in the middle of nowhere, the cold night air hitting Cassidy like a truck. She instinctively started to shiver as she saw Sam pick up a tiny Emma in his hand. "I'm sorry," Sam said, looking over at a struggling Cassidy. "I don't trust you enough to bring you," He continued. Cassidy tried to responde, but the boy was gone. He flew off into the distance leaving Cassidy alone. The girl was too tired to even feel anything, all she could do was lie on the ground and drift off to sleep.

"My sister could be dead, Andre," A shrill voice filled Cassidy's ears, forcing her to slowly open her eyes. A blaring light blinded the girl, making her emit a soft groaning noise.

"Hey! Over here," Another feminine voice yelled out, this time a lot closer to the girl. Her eyes were still blinded from the light, not allowing her to see who was talking to her. "Hey, it's me, it's Jordan," Jordan Li said as they grabbed Cassidy and helped sit her up. Cassidy looked around and noticed she was in a corn field.

"Oh thank god!" Cate said as she rushed over to her little sister, grabbing onto the girl and pulling her into a tight hug.

"Cassidy, where is Emma?" Marie asked quietly, looking down at the girl with worry filled eyes.

"Sam took her and left me here," Cassidy groaned out, still not fully understanding what was going on. She would have laid back on the ground, but Jordan was still holding the girl up.

"Let's just get her home," Cate demanded the group, as Andre went and picked the girl up and started carrying her to the car. It wasn't long before the girl passed back out in the backseat of the car.

Cassidy woke up to the sound of rustling, she was somehow in her bed back in her dorm room. She scanned her room finding Cate pacing back and forth.
