Chapter Three

3rd pov:

y/n: "the mission next week? what of it?"

akutagawa who was still standing next to y/n in silence looked annoyed all of a sudden.  that was when a blond young girl simply popped out of nowhere and introduced herself:

"hello! i'm elise! and miss.... you look ugly." she said with the most honest looking face you've ever seen a child make.

the middle aged man in front of the two young people told them to ignore her, and they did. after a while, she eventually left

mori: "Either way.. back to the previous subject. this is going to be a dangerous mission. not only will both of our mafias work together, but the target is also exetremly important. high risk but a very high reward. y/n, you came to yokohama to collect information about him, yes?"

y/n: "yes. in a week, at...."

akutagawa's pov:

the conversation went on for a while, and when it was done, the boss said

"i suppose that concludes the meeting. akutagawa, take the day off and pay dear yosano a visit. y/n, it was good to meet you once again. oh! and on that mission... two will be paired together"

this took me by surprise. i was standing there and i was.... smiling? i hadn't smiled in a good while.. according to what mori said... i was, no, i am.. blushing?! i don't know what on earth is going on..  

then i realised y/n was already gone. and there i was, in yosano's office together with no other than gin, chuuya and dazai who were lecturing me harshly about dissappearing like that. my sister and chuuya were saying they were worried sick, meanwhile dazai was more interested in the person i was with.

3rd pov:

dazai: "oh akutagawa i didn't know you were dating!"

akutagawa: "excuse me sir?!"

dazai: "You're excused."

akutagawa: "look, sir, when exactly did i say in my explanation that me and her were a couple?"

dazai: "a little bird whispered that into my ear!"

akutagawa: "dazai that bird will be roasted and brought to you on a silver plate if it keeps telling you that"

dazai: "look, aku, i get it. you're just bad at concealing a crush ok?"

akutagawa: "since when did you get-"

dazai: "you described her as a pretty woman your age, you're mumbling as you speak and you are as red as a tomato. how dare you lie to your precious dazai?" the brunnete said in a sarcastic voice.

all of a sudden, akutagawa was pulled out of the room by dazai, the other two people in the room going back to their work shortly later.

"Akutagawa, we have a little trip to do. now what did you say was her favorite color?"

time skip to six days later 

akutagawa's pov:

"this is so unnecessary dazai... can't i just have someone send it to her as a gift? i do not need more anxiety and weight on my shoulders!" i said to dazai as we both got out of the mafia's HQ. dazai gave me a silly look and shook his head. did i want to give it to her? yes. definetly. did mind approve? fuck no. it was now a snowing evening before the mission. i was already stressed and my lungs were not helping me today. yet before long i found myself standing in front of her door. i wanted to go back to my home so badly. i had no idea what this pure feeling of fear was called, but i knew damn well everyone i know, including my sister would murder me if i came back with the little box in my hand. after i managed to shut my thoughts out, i rang the doorbell, praying nothing would go wrong

y/n's pov:

you were just back from a pleasant evening walk, and you were reviewing your plans for the mission tommorrow. over this week, you and akutagawa exchanged your numbers for work purposes and talked a lot. you got to know him much more and you realised that he's emotionless at work and even described as hostile by some collegues, however, when he's out of work, he's a pretty sweet guy. even tho you didn't want to admit it, you knew you developed a crush. but you weren't supposed to think about that, tommorrow's events are much more important. then, a sudden doorbell ring was heard. you wandered who one earth could be visiting you at this time, as you opened the door and almost had a heart attack once you saw who was at your door

3rd pov:

"akutagawa! what brings you to my home?" the young lady said

"i, well... i wanted to thank you for what you did a while ago, so i got you a gift"

the man gave her box with a slight blush on his face

"thank you so much, you didn't have to you know? i just-" y/n was in shock when she opened it. she smiled as she saw a beautiful necklace made of her f/c diamonds and gems, with a beautiful lace that was perfectly made with caution.

"thank you so much! i love it! and i love the gem's color.. it's a beautiful piece of jewelery, ironic, don't you think?" she giggled, tho inside she was praying she didn't say the wrong thing

"yes, i know, but i thought this necklace would look good on you... which it surely does! uhm, and, you know, i was wondering if after the mission, maybe we could go on-" 

then y/n's phone rang. she quickly looked at her phone, then apologised, saying she had to take that call, and invited akutagawa in to prevent him from freezing to death. after she was done, she went over to akutagawa, who was sitting on her couch.

"i'm very sorry, it was my dad.. can't really ignore a boss's calls. what were you going to say?"

dissappointed in his failed attempt, akutagawa switched to plan b:

"oh nothing, it's just that the port mafia always hosts a party after a big mission, just wanted to make sure you'd be there"

"oh yes of course! don't worry."

y/n was about to send him on his way, but then she thought, maybe this is her chance to show a bit of interest.

"would you like to stay for dinner?"

akutagawa wasn't very focused and so he said 

"no, sorry, i need to finish preparations for tommorrow with some people"

"oh... i'll see you tommorrow then?" y/n said, dissappointed at his reaction.

"yes! and.. i hope you like the necklace" akutagawa said with his very rare, second, smile of the week

akutagawa's pov:

once i reached home, my friends were waiting for an answer like a dog waiting to get food.

"so?" my sister said

"i gave her the necklace"

i heard my friends cheering as tachihara asked when's the date. when i let them know i didn't ask her out, they demanded i explain. after i did, chuuya asked me:

"so she's your plus one for the party?"

"i don't know" 

"yet" dazai said and went in the room. he convinced me to ask her that after the mission is over, if it will even go successfully. after an hour or so i was already in bed and i almost passed out the second i laid there. i hoped that mission would go well before i drifted off to sleep.

y/n's pov:

after your dissappointment about handsome akutagawa's reaction, you looked a little closer at the necklace. not only did it have your favorite gems, it also had diamonds. must've been really expensive. was he interested in you? or was his position as an executive was just well-paying? you quickly got ready for bed, fell asleep quickly, excited yet a little worried about tommorrow
