When it comes to matters of fitness, diet, and exercise within the NBA, Lorrie is practically involved in most aspect of it. So, it didn't come as a surprise to me when I walked into the team nutrition program and saw her as the one running the show. The guys on the team who are aware of mine and Lorrie's history couldn't help but glance at me, grinning.

As I took my seat, Lorrie wasted no time in scolding me, "You're ten minutes late." Her words were filled with frustration, as if I had committed a great offense.

I couldn't help but respond jokingly, trying to lighten the tension, "My bad, I didn't realize this was training with my basketball coach." My comment elicited chuckles from a few of the guys.

Not long after, Travis arrived, just as late as me. But of course Lorrie had to highlight that his lateness wasn't a big deal. "Nice that you can join us, Travis," she said to him. It was clear that she still harbored some resentment towards me, and wanted to provoke a reaction from me.

Trying to regain some semblance of professionalism, she began. "Now that everyone's here," she said, pausing for effect, "Today we are going to delve into the importance of maintaining the perfect balance between diet and exercise for optimal performance in the court."

As she continued speaking, she asked the group, "How many of you guys here drink coffee?" She then slyly added, "Let's mark Jermaine off the list, I know he doesn't."

Unable to bite my tongue any longer, I responded. "This is definitely not the epitome of professionalism," I commented, with a heavy dose of sarcasm.

She shot me a sly grin and continued ticking off the names of those who raised their hands for coffee drinking. She then moved on to inquire about alcohol consumption and smoking habits.

Growing up, I knew that smoking would be one of my mother's worst nightmares. Therefore, I never adopted the habit.

Luke chimed in, "Let's be honest, we all here drink, but not excessively to the point where we can't perform on the court."

Lorrie then began to explain how certain habits can negatively impact performance and overall health. She emphasized the importance of making mindful choices and maintaining a healthy lifestyle to ensure peak physical condition on the court.

As she delved deeper into the topic of exercise and its integral role in maintaining physical fitness. She concluded her presentation by emphasizing the significance of consistency and discipline. Encouraging the players to commit to their fitness goals and make conscious choices that align with their athletic aspirations.

As much as I wanted to dismiss her expertise and competency, I couldn't help but begrudgingly acknowledge her extensive knowledge and dedication to the field.
