I wasn't always X's assistant,
There was a reason why I became bound to him in the first place.
I wasn't even sure if I was human anymore,
Or a living resource for people who want my blood.
I used to hate everyone that I was close with,
I thought that they were just using me as a lab rat for experiments.

I ran away from The Manus Vindictae, the people who kidnapped and experimented on me.
They told me I was special, that I wasn't like the other kids,
I was taken from my parents after they were killed with multiple gunshots.
I had no choice.
I had no choice.
I had no choice.

I was barefoot, running in the woods,
I could hear them calling for me.
My feet were wounded because of the sharp rocks and sticks piercing my flesh.
But that was the least of my worries right now,
My main problem was the men that were chasing me across the never-ending woods.

"Hey! You little shit, come back here!"
One of the men yelled towards me.
But that didn't stop me, it just gave me the determination to run further.
"Fuck! This kid is fast!—"
"No shit?! Miss Arcana said that kid is fuckin special what do you think?"
I just kept running, ignoring their faint arguing.

I never got tired, but my legs were about to collapse.
I have long outrun those men, but I'm pretty sure they're still chasing me.
I could never be sure, so I just gave my legs one last push.

Soon, I see a silhouette of a large mansion.
I got closer to it, and when I got a clear view of it, I found out it was an orphanage.
I didn't even have a choice, I had to knock on the huge doors even if I get kicked or not.

I knock 3 times, and a woman, probably in her 40s takes a look at me.
She looks confused at first, seeing a child in front an orphanage.
Then she starts showing emotion once she sees my dirty state.
"OH YOU POOR THING! COME INSIDE, ILL GET YOU FIXED UP IN NO TIME!!!"
I didn't answer, I just looked down on the ground as I followed the lady.

"Hello little munchkin, are ya feelin better?" The same woman enters my room.
I don't answer, I just gave her a little nod.
"Still can't talk eh? That's fine, I don't bite."
She moves towards the edge of my bed, softly smiling at me.
Her smile looked so nice, so I smiled back.
"Okay so how can I say this...so um...it's been a few days, and it seems like you don't have any parents...so, would ya like to stay here, with me? I promise, we'll treat ya right with the best we can! You might even make new friends, sounds tempting eh?"

I look at her straight in the eyes, my eyes were sparkling with shock.
I immediately nod, I want to be part of a new facility, where I can be loved, or maybe I was just being naïve, but I don't really care anymore.
"Well then, welcome to our family."
The lady welcomes me.
"*GASP*! We have a new member?!"
A kid suddenly burst open my door.

"X? Dear, what are you doing here? Aren't you supposed to be at lunch?"
"Well....you suddenly left, so I followed you..."
"Huh...its fine, as long as you don't do that ok? Bad things might happen."
"YES MAAM!"
The boy called 'X' made his way to me, I was terrified, I never saw another kid the same age as me.
"Hello there! What's you're name? I'm X!" He asks with a lot of energy.
I stay mute and made a hand gesture saying I don't have a name.

"Don't have a name eh? Then I'll give you one! Let's see...uuuuhhh—OH! (name)! That's your new name now!!!"
I say the name repeatedly in my head,
hm I liked it.
I nodded at him for approval.
"YAY! (name), you sure are pretty! I wanna be friends with you as long as I wanna!" He laughs as I smile.
The woman chuckles at the boy's behavior.

We soon became best friends, I learned so much about him during the time we spent together.
I found out he has a passion for experimenting and inventing, he was a smart kid.
I also spoke to him for the first time, he was really surprised at first, then compliments that I had a pretty voice, which left me flustered.
I started growing feelings for him that day.

Everything was going fine during this period of time we both spent together, until it all came crashing down one day.

That one specific day was my 13th birthday,
I was really excited, X was too.
But before the party even started,
Some sketchy people entered the orphanage and asked X to come with them, to become one with their foundation.
They talked privately to X about the role he is about to play if he joined, I was silently panicking the whole time.

When X finally came out of the room, he finds me then tells me that he was going to join them.
I pleaded to him not to go, but it was no use, his future mattered more than me.
I cried like a baby that night, and I hated my birthday ever since.

At the day he was going to leave, I convinced them for me to stay beside him as his assistant.
This surprised him, but he didn't protest against it, and just went along with everything.
And that day on, I became his assistant for life.

....

He was never the same ever since he walked out of that room.
He seemed determined to leave me to continue his career.
I hated him for it, and I soon regretted even being his assistant in the first place.
But I couldn't just leave, I came all this way...though either way, it was all for nothing,
So I just accepted it.

He never noticed me, he never even talked to me...but only when it was important.
I was like a stranger to him.
So I acted that way towards him the same.
Until that day where he found out about my blood.

He called me to his office and tells me about my blood...I was shocked.
My blood contained Arcanum...
So that's why the Manus Vindictae was interested in me in the first place....
Then X had the audacity to run some tests on me, but I agreed, because I was also curious.
He kept experimenting on me, until one day, he just stopped.

I was really confused that time, until he knocked on my door one night.
I opened it and he was crying, I was only confused but I comforted him. He told me he was sorry about doing experiments on me to the point I was going to faint, and me still feeling something warm for him, accepted his apology.
He stopped experimenting on me ever since that happened.
He was more sarcastic and sassy, more like himself.
I returned to my old self too, warming up to him.

It was like the first time we met again.
