"Time runs short, heroes. You all must awaken" A voice said in the inky black abyss Y/N found himself adrift in, disoriented and unable to ascertain the voice's source. He couldn't quite detect where it was coming from, or even where he currently was.
"Hello? Spookums?" Y/N shouted, but his words echoed in empty space.
"God, how hard did I bump my head in that fight?" Y/N tried to float about.
"You must awaken." Y/N looked around again, but he couldn't see the source of the voice.
"Awaken? I'm still knocked out? Okay, but how do I awaken?" Y/N asked of the disembodied voice in the void
"You MUST awaken! NOW!" Suddenly, Y/N was forcefully pulled out of his slumber. With a gasp and a jolt he hit the glass in front of him.
"Ow! Shit!" Y/N tried to rub his forehead, but he realised he couldn't move his arms. "What the hell?" He writhed within the confines of his cylindrical pod, only to come to the stark realization that he was firmly secured to a cold steel slab, with a transparent glass cylinder looming ominously overhead. . Nearby, in similar pods, he noticed Aqualad, Robin, and Kid Flash, all just regaining consciousness.
All heroes are now alert, it's as if they've never left the fight, their eyes dart around the room. They noticed the bright holographic screens displaying data about them, the large spotlights, shining directly at them, and finally, the person responsible for putting them there.
"You!" Y/N said, voice dripping with venom.
"What do YOU want?" Wally asked, he clearly hadn't gotten over the fact that Superboy had beaten them up, much like Y/N. "And quit staring, you're creeping me out!"
"Uh, KF, how about we not tick off the angry guy who can cook us with a look?" Robin interjected.
"I can beat him, I call for a rematch!" Y/N yelled out.
"You wouldn't be in a pod if you could've actually beaten him, dude!" Robin reasoned.
Amongst the voices of angry teens, Aqualad's pierced through. his tone was way different from the one the 3 other sidekicks have adopted. Calmly, he spoke to Superboy, trying to reason with him. "We only sought to help you."
"Yeah. We free you from your pod thing and first thing you do is turn on us!" Kid Flash pipes up again. "How's that for gra-" But before he could finish his sentence, Kaldur spoke firmly "Enough!"
Kid stopped his ramblings. "Kid, please, be quiet now. I believe our friend was not in full control of his actions."
With the conversation gaining ground, Robin deployed a lockpick from the pointer finger of his glove and began working on his restraints secretively. Superboy just looked down at the ground as if he was thinking about something.
"Wha- What if I..." Superboy's hands clench into fists as he trails off with an annoyed huff. It was as if he wasn't used to speaking, and with their information on him, he has probably never spoken before. "What if... I wasn't?" He said, finally completing the construction of his first sentence.
"He can talk?" Kid Flash asked quizzically.
"Yes, HE can." Superboy tightened his fists further, aiming to control his growing rage. The three other proteges gave him disapproving looks.
