Daniel was more nervous about today's meeting in comparison to the previous meetings. The meeting was scheduled at four in the afternoon — a portentous time in Daniel's opinion. But somehow, Daniel felt this was the most important contract negotiation for the whole reunion plan since it was Seongwu's.
Seongwu was always the closest to Daniel during their Wanna One activities since OngNiel was, is, and will always be science. Knowing that it was for the benefit of Seongwu — the group's vocalist, dancer, and mood maker — was an added pressure for Daniel. He must bring his A-game for today.
Going back to the present, Daniel and his legal counsel, Chae Chinjeol, were escorted to the meeting room. Unlike his previous meetings, they were the first ones to arrive.
"Please wait for a while. Shin Youngjin-daepyonim, Kim Haksoo-nim, and Ong Seongwu-ssi will be seeing you shortly," the female usher mentioned after serving the refreshments.
When the female left the room, Daniel whispered to Chinjeol, "Chinjeol-nim, what should be our plan for this meeting?"
"Based on our data for Ong Seongwu-ssi, he's been more active in his acting career rather than his solo career after serving in the military. Since drama shoots tend to last for months, scheduling might be their biggest concern regarding this negotiation," Chinjeol responded.
"How should I resolve that issue?" Daniel was asking for guidance.
"You can point out that, at first, Wanna One will adjust its schedule according to the drama shoots already confirmed for Seongwu-ssi. After that, the process will be done both ways: both Fantagio and Konnect will coordinate with any plans so no future will overlap," Chinjeol suggested.
"Noted. I'll try to store that idea in my memory," Daniel squinted hard as if that would help with his memory.
Five minutes was all it took before the other party arrived. Daniel and Chinjeol immediately stood up to acknowledge their arrival.
"Good afternoon. Sorry for being late. I am Shin Youngjin, the CEO of Fantagio," the said male offered his hand to Daniel.
Daniel took the other's hand for a shake, "I am Kang Daniel, CEO of KD Corporation and Konnect Entertainment. My companion is Chae Chinjeol, my legal counsel"
"Please take a seat," Youngjin offered. "With me for this meeting are Kim Haksoo-nim, representative of our largest shareholder; and of course, Ong Seongwu-ssi."
Seongwu and Daniel shared a quick hug before sitting down. There was a short break in the conversation since snacks and beverages were served for the Fantagio executives.
"So, Kang Daniel-ssi, may I know the reason why you requested this meeting?" Youngjin asked. "This after CJ ENM tipped us off of your efforts to transfer Wanna One's trademarks to your company."
"I believe you might have a smidgen of an idea as to why," Daniel responded. "But to make things clear, I am here to negotiate Ong Seongwu-hyung's contract regarding his possible future activities as a member of Wanna One under Konnect Entertainment."
"I see. You are really reuniting Wanna One, huh?" Youngjin nodded. "Is this about his exclusive contract with us?"
"Indeed it is," Chinjeol confirmed. "We don't want any breach of contract on our part. After all, an exclusive contract prevents him from signing a contract with other agencies."
