Iris Blue, Am I In Love With You?---------{Part One: Entering The World}----------
"The course of true love never did run smooth."
-William Shakespeare
Chapter 1 (Present Day)
Loud yipping and barking flooded Stella's senses as she filled out the rest of her forms, her boots silently carrying her across the yard and into the office building. The frigid air met her like a wave form Antarctica, a welcomed sensation against her sweat-covered skin.
"I finish training the new K-9's, they should be ready for departure soon."
Tired brown eyes glanced up at her from behind the computer screen, a cold hand reaching for the paperwork Stella handed her, before the sweaty trainer headed over to the nearest air vent. An eyebrow raised as the young woman caught a glimpse of writing on the back of the pages.
"You want your notes back, madam?"
Stella blushed as she snatched the papers from her friend's hand, glancing over the backs of the pages. Her attempts at memorizing the notes were interrupted by a notepad hitting her shoulder, and a grin from Maria.
"I want to actually read this fanfic one day, so scribble those notes down."
A laugh emitted from the young woman as she retrieved the notepad from the floor, blowing off the bits of dust and dog hair they all came to wear day by day and took to writing her many ideas.
"Have you watched it yet?"
"Watched it? I binged it all last night and was waiting to tell you! William is by far my favorite. I need him."
Stella's eyes sparkled as she jerked her head up, her hand frozen over her notes, clutching the pen.
"Isn't it amazing?! I love Albert, I swear, the man would be my dream come true. Rich, dark hair, those emerald eyes."
Her eyes rolled before she laughed, remember the features of her favorite character.
"I think I've watched the episodes a million times now."
The two continued to chat as Stella rewrote her notes, Maria carefully placing white out to make sure no officials find what Stella had been up to on their oh-so-important papers they will never look at. Other coworkers came and went in the few moments that the fangirls continued their chat, Stella finishing a report of the day before she headed to clock out.
"We'll have to continue this chat again. You work Monday?"
"Nope, I'm off for the next two weeks, remember? Vacation."
Stella's heart sank as she bemoaned the loss of her only Moriarty the Patriot pal.
"Then I shall try to write my story for you while you're gone! Don't count on it though."
"Oh I better have something to read when I get back."
The doors clicked shut behind Stella as she laughed, waving good bye to her friend and heading home for the weekend. Her drive home was filled with daydreams of the story, questions that swirled in her mind like a cage of smoke. How should she write this? What would she have her character do? Would they join the Moriarty team or stay away?
Her engine purred to a stop as she clicked the ignition, resting for a moment before heading inside. Dinner was ready for her, but she took a quick shower and cleaned up before she went to gather her meal.
"How was work, sweetie?"
A slight smile grew across Stella's face as she sighed.
"Exhausting, but I finished with the police dogs, so I'm relieved. Maria is going on vacation for the next two weeks, though, so it'll be hectic. I want to write some of my story before she gets back-"
"The one about those British-Japanese guys?"
Stella chuckled at her mother's remark, grimacing a little as she realized how true the statement was. It was an anime, with Japanese voice actors when she first watched it- but everything was set in England.
"It's basically just the Sherlock Holmes characters, but yes, exactly."
"Well, whoever they are. Have fun."
She smiled as her mother gave her a loving pat on the shoulder, wandering off to the living room as Stella made her way to her bedroom to eat. Unsure of what to watch, she eventually caved in to watching the Moriarty series once more, manipulating herself into thinking it was for "research".
Once in a while she slipped out her small notebook from her pocket, scribbling an idea down before returning to her episode. The time passed by, Stella quoting her favorite parts, reacting dramatically at bits for her own amusement. However, she began to scribble down other notes as it came to the scenes of Albert killing his brother.
This was one thing that always bothered her. Couldn't they have found a better way to change England than to kill? Her brain searched for answers, wanting to find a way around their actions. She glanced up to the manga that lined her shelves, the collection of their stories she was lucky to get. The nobles had seemed so much worse on paper than in the animations. Maybe their plan truly was the only way... But the brothers are so broken by the end of the story, there had to be a way to change their story if one was inside the pages.
Her eyes darted back to the screen as she heard the explosion, the scenes flitting back to the boys as they began to escape. She felt a little dramatic as she watched, knowing full well what Louis was doing by grabbing the piece of flaming hot wood.
"Louis, don't-"
It was entirely a joke, a dramatic moment for a silly girl to protest an unchangeable scene in a world that didn't exist. Nothing would come of it, the show would go on. Or would it? As Stella felt the hot air smother the very breaths she tried to take in, smelled the smoke threatening to burn her throat, she could almost begin to wonder: would it go on?
