As the days passed by in a whirlwind of classes, study sessions, and project reports, life seemed to have returned to its usual routine. The demands of assignments and upcoming fests consumed much of our time, leaving little room for leisure or idle conversation. Exhaustion would often wash over me, and I would find solace in the comfort of my bed, drifting off to sleep.

Yet, amidst the chaos and busyness, there was one constant that brightened my days - her. Even a single glance, a brief moment of connection, was enough to rejuvenate my spirit and wash away the weariness that clung to me. Her presence, however fleeting, had the power to uplift and energize me in ways I couldn't explain.

Though our interactions were limited, each encounter left an indelible mark on my heart. Whether it was a shared smile in passing or a stolen conversation in the hallway, those stolen moments were cherished and stored away in the depths of my memory.

In those instances, time seemed to stand still, and the weight of responsibilities and commitments would momentarily fade away. It was as if the universe conspired to remind me that amidst the chaos, there was something special, something worth holding onto.

As I lay on my bed, thoughts of her would dance in my mind, filling the space between consciousness and slumber. It was in those quiet moments that I would reflect on the significance of her presence in my life. Her mere existence had the power to brighten my world and infuse it with a sense of purpose and joy.

Yes, our days may have been filled with hectic schedules, but the moments of connection, no matter how fleeting, were the threads that wove a beautiful tapestry of affection and longing. And as I closed my eyes, falling into a peaceful sleep, I knew that even in the midst of our busy lives, our bond would continue to grow, silently weaving its way through the tapestry of our intertwined hearts.

"How many times do I have to explain that this is a systems approach, not an institutional one?" Pallavi said angrily, while explaining some concepts leaving others confused. We met for a study session in our room and she had been explaining the same concept, but Keerthi couldn't understand it even after her 50th explanation.

Keerthi replied, "This is difficult, okay?"

"My apologies for assuming you were capable of understanding something beyond ABCs and 123s. Maybe we should get you a participation trophy for trying to grasp the concept. Keep up the great work!" said Pallavi leaving everyone shocked. I couldn't believe it, why is she being so rude to her?

Keerthi scoffed and said, "Oh,and you're truly a master at explaining things in a way that only you can understand."

Me, Purvi and Aadya looked at each other worried. Pallavi replied, "Well, it's not my fault that I operate on a college intellectual plane rather than on a typical school level. But don't worry, I'll try my best to dumb it down for you so that you don't strain your brain too much. You're welcome!"

Understanding the depth of the situation, Purvi decided to chime in, "Guys, I think maybe we should continue tomorrow," taking the hint Aadya took Keerthi with her, which was very difficult, and I bid them goodbye.

Closing the door, I turned to Pallavi, my frustration growing. "What was that?" I questioned, my voice tinged with concern.

She glanced at me with a cold, distant stare. "Well, this is how I am," she replied, her tone devoid of any remorse or explanation.

I tightened my grip on her shoulders, trying to make her understand the impact of her behaviour. "No, you are not," I insisted, my confusion turning to a mix of frustration and disappointment. "You're better than this, Pallavi. You know how much your words can hurt. You could have simply just said, 'well I don't know how to explain this to you now, maybe you should take the help of google' that's it. Is it that difficult?"

She scoffed, a bitter smile appearing on her face. "Why should I? Maybe it's time everyone gets the reality check that I'm not your free tutor."

I couldn't believe what I was hearing. Was she intentionally trying to push people away? I searched her eyes for any sign of vulnerability or regret, but found none.

Taking a deep breath, I released my grip on her shoulders, realising that pushing her further might only worsen the situation. "Fine," I said, my voice tinged with resignation. "If this is truly who you want to be, then maybe it's best if we all take a step back."

Pallavi's expression remained unchanged, as if my words had no effect on her. She continued organising her things, seemingly unaffected by the tension in the room.

Feeling a mix of sadness and frustration, I decided to give her some space. I left the room and decided to go and meet Keerthi. As I walked away, I couldn't help but wonder what had caused this sudden change in Pallavi's behaviour. Tomorrow is my birthday and I do not want my friends to be fighting in my birthday celebration.

I knocked on Aadya's door. The door opened and I stood there, stunned and overwhelmed by the unexpected surprise. Confetti scattered across the room, creating a vibrant and festive atmosphere. My eyes widened as I took in the sight before me - Aadya, Purvi, and Keerthi, all beaming with excitement. "Happy Birthday!!"

"We were just acting," Purvi confessed, a mischievous glint in her eyes. I turned to see Pallavi, holding a beautifully decorated cake, her expression a mix of nerves and anticipation.

"Are you guys serious? Who the hell plans a birthday surprise like that, huh?" I exclaimed, a mixture of shock and amusement coursing through me.

"It was Pallavi's idea," Keerthi chimed in, pointing towards her with a playful grin.

I couldn't help but laugh, feeling a wave of gratitude and joy wash over me. Their efforts to create such a memorable surprise, even if it started with a bang, touched my heart in ways I couldn't express.

Walking towards Pallavi, I wrapped my arms around her in a tight embrace, feeling a surge of warmth and affection between us. "Thank you," I whispered, my voice filled with genuine appreciation.

Pallavi smiled, her eyes sparkling with happiness. "Happy birthday, Sanaya. I wanted to make it special for you."

As we all gathered around the cake, laughter and chatter filling the air, I couldn't help but feel an overwhelming sense of love and camaraderie. At that moment, I knew that this group of friends, with their quirks and surprises, would continue to make my life brighter and more meaningful.

As we blew out the candles and made wishes, I couldn't help but wonder what the future held for us. One thing was for certain - with friends like these and a love that seemed to blossom against all odds, every moment would be an adventure worth cherishing.

Little did I know that this birthday surprise would mark the beginning of a new chapter in my relationship with Pallavi. The confessions we shared earlier were just the tip of the iceberg, and this unexpected celebration was the catalyst for a deeper connection between us.

So, here's to new beginnings, unforgettable surprises, and the beautiful journey that lay ahead. Happy birthday to me, indeed.
