This room was a particularly large room. In fact, it was a room with many many rooms. It was more of a factory, really. A dim abandoned factory. Only a few lights stayed on but even they didn't provide much light. The machines however, seemed to work perfectly. Xavier ran as fast as he could. For some reason one of their teammates had lost it when they entered the room. Xavier had lost the rest of the group when they split up. He wasn't sure who the figure followed. He hoped the figure followed him, that way Xavier could buy his friends some time. But deep down, he hoped it followed someone else. An alarm started going off, a slow alarm with a red light flashing slowly. Suddenly a sprinkler system came on, quickly soaking Xavier to the bone. He mumbled to himself, now not only was he scared, but he was also soaked. Xavier came up to a heavy door and, with much effort, pulled it open. He walked into the room, which was a little chilly. There was one light in the middle of the ceiling of the room. It didn't provide much visibility and made the shadows bend and dance in mysterious ways. After looking around for a bit, Xavier came to realize he'd found his way into some kind of freezer room. Lots of things were stored in the room, meats, boxes, and even a few animal organs. What kind of factory is this? Xavier thought to himself. The lonely light flickered and the door slammed shut, making Xavier jump. He hurried over to the door and grabbed the knob. Xavier pushed and pushed on the door, but it wouldn't budge. "Hello!" Xavier shouted. "I'm stuck in here! Set!? Sam!?" He shook the door, and hit it, and kicked it, but it still didn't open. In his desperate attempts to leave the room, Xavier didn't notice that the temperature was beginning to drop quickly in the room. Frost began to coat his clothes and lace his hair, he started to shiver, but thought it was merely out of terror. He grabbed the doorknob again and shook the door, harder this time. Still nothing happened. He tried to take his hand off the knob, but his wet hand had stuck to the cold metal. Xavier looked at his hand, then around at the room, then finally at himself. Frost had now started to prickle along his exposed skin, and the temperature had not stopped dropping. Xavier started to panic and kicked at the door as hard as he could. "Set! Sam! Somebody! Help!" He screamed at the top of his lungs. Would anybody come for him?
Set snuck out of a room, and up a set of stairs which took him to a catwalk. Under the walk were large vats, some were empty, some were filled with what looked like black tar. The smell of the room made Set's nose and eyes burn, and he could hardly see through the steam. He thought he could hear the sound of a door opening and closing somewhere in the room. Straining his ears, he tried to listen for anything else, but all he could hear was the tar bubbling. Something thumped on the catwalk, Set looked around, but wasn't able to see much. Without saying a word, he started heading away from the thump. He didn't know if it was one of his teammates, or the masked lunatic that had turned against them. Set moved quietly along the catwalk, listening for any more noises. The room had started to make his eyes water and his lungs hurt, he had to get out of there. Set rubbed his eyes and hurried along, but bumped into something and was stopped. "Xavier?" Set asked, he had grown attached to Xavier over the last couple rooms. It would be such a relief to see him now. Set opened his eyes and looked up at who he had run into. Instead of seeing Xavier's soft gaze, he was met with a cold empty gaze, and a pale expressionless face. The figure had found him. Set turned to run, but a strong hand grabbed the back of his neck. The boy screamed, fought, and thrashed, but the figure held on tightly. "Xavier! Xavier!" Set shrieked as the figure lifted him off his feet. "Xavier, help!" Set continued, but there was no Xavier. The figure tossed Set over the catwalk rail like he weighed nothing. The boy screamed and grabbed at the air before finally he plunged into the steaming black tar. The figure watched as Set reached up out of the black liquid only to be sucked deeper into it. Soon the boy was engulfed in the tar, which steamed more than any other tar vat in the room now. The figure walked away.
Asher looked around the room he was in. It kind of reminded him of his wretched birthplace. But this place made him kind of curious, maybe there was some technology he could take from it to learn more. Maybe not. He looked into a large tube, tapped the glass a few times, then came to the conclusion that it was just filled with water. Asher began writing in his journal, like he had done in the other rooms. Suddenly he heard an odd noise, as if someone had turned a valve or something. He looked around and set his pen in the journal, closing it and putting it in his bag. He tapped his glasses and looked around the room, they glitched a few times, but didn't reveal anything out of the ordinary. Asher took a step toward what he thought were the controls to the tube but stopped when his shoe made a squelching noise. He looked down to see that the floor was now wet, his nose tickled with the smell of old water. Asher looked at the tube, which was now open. He tilted his head and walked over to it. Asher knew there was only one way he could die, and maybe this was why he had gotten so close to the tube. He looked inside it and pulled his journal back out. Asher scribbled down a few more notes, read over them, then read them again just to be sure. He stuck his journal back in his bag and got ready to walk away from the tube, when something suddenly pushed him inside it. Before Asher could process what had happened the tube closed with a hiss and click. He rubbed the side of the grimey tube, trying to clear up a spot to see. By the tube controls he saw a pale face watching him. The scientist made a quiet gasp and tried to break the glass of the tube, which had now started to fill with water. Asher was launched into a coughing fit because of his panic. He hacked and coughed watching the tube fill with water, knowing there was nothing he could do. And even though he knew it would hurt, it wouldn't kill him. Soon the tube was completely filled with stale water, and Asher didn't even fight to keep it out of his exhausted lungs. His chest grew heavy as it filled with water. The duct tape keeping his limbs together started to peel off. The figure started to turn another knob, a red light came on at the top of the tube, and the water quickly began to heat up. Asher weakly hit at the side of the tube, choking on coughs and water. His skin started to melt as the temperature rose, the duct tape had let go of his broken limbs and they floated away from his body, going to the top of the tube. The glass fogged up and the water turned a sickly green and dark red. There was a click and a hiss and the water was sucked out of the tube. Asher took in a deep breath, his body nothing more than boiled meat and broken bones. He fell out of the tube and onto the floor. His weak head hit the hard ground. His thin skull broke in half, and his brain leaked onto the floor, nothing more than mush now. The figure walked away.
Sam was lost. Very lost. He was never good with directions, and he knew one day that would be his downfall. The room he found was underground, he could sense that at least. There were a few fans on the wall, some spun slowly, some didn't spin at all, but one spun very fast. Sam questioned the use of the fans, honestly he questioned this whole place. This whole situation was questionable. "Xavier?" Sam whispered. The boy kind of liked Xavier. Xavier was nice to him, but he didn't answer Sam's call. Sam wondered where his friends were. Maybe they left without me. Sam thought, then he shook his head. If he thought like that, he'd never get out of here. He sighed and started looking for a way out of the room. It was dark, and he had lost the door. He listened carefully, staying far away from the fans. Sam sniffed and wiped his face. He knew now wasn't the time to cry, but he really couldn't help it. A gentle hand rested on Sam's shoulder. The boy jumped, but automatically felt comforted. "Xavier?" He asked, but there was no answer. This kind of unnerved Sam, and if he could reverse time, he wouldn't have trusted the silence. The grip on Sam's shoulder tightened, and next thing he knew, he found himself being led through the room. Sam knew what was going on now. Xavier had found Sam, and knew the way out of the room. They couldn't talk because the figure was close. The sound of the faster fan got louder and Sam stopped. "Is this the right way, Xavier?" He whispered. There was no answer. "Xavier?" Sam said, a little louder. Still no answer. "Xavier say som-" A bright light shone from behind the fan, blinding Sam. In the flashing light, Sam could see a pale face, the last face he wanted to see. The figure grabbed Sam by the back of his hair, and pushed him forward, closer to the fan. Sam screamed and tried to run away, but the figure was much stronger. The sound of the fan got louder and louder, Sam could feel the wind off it. "No, please…" Sam begged, more tears falling down his face. It was okay to cry now. The figure slowly pushed Sam closer and closer to the fan. There was a wet slicing sound, and a spray of blood and chunks of flesh and meat. The boy went limp, no more fight in him. Sam's body fell to the ground, all that was left was a small chunk of the back of his head. The rest of his face littered the floor, blood shining in the flashing light behind the fan. The figure walked away.
