prologue
I peered my eyes open and looked around the dark room. I groaned in complaint before jolting out of the bed and running to my bathroom and quickly showering. After I was finished I ran to my large walk-in closet. Quickly getting dressed into pink leggings, blue tutu skirt. A batman shirt and my rainbow suspenders.
Once satisfied I ran back into the bathroom and cleaned my teeth. Then I moved to my hair, I pulled the aqua colored brush through my long curly dark brown hair, I pulled out my straightener and straightened my long bangs. I came back out of the bathroom and pulled my bright blue converse on.
I grabbed my purse and put all essentials into it. I grabbed my phone off the charger and looked around my large now bright yellow room to check if I had forgotten anything. I ran to my kitchen where my dad was.
“You're late!” my dad yelled nervously.
“I know, I know. I over slept. I'm not used to this!” I yelled back frantically trying to find my backpack. Once I saw it I grabbed it and flung it over my shoulder.
“I love you. And be careful, have fun, and please babygirl. Try to make friends.” my dad said into my hair as I hugged him.
“I already have a friend,” I protested leaning back as he kissed my forehead. “but I'll try. People just don't like my corks. But I'll try for you.” I said smiling. He nodded and I ran for the door. “I love you!” I said and ran out the door to my best friends pick up truck.
“Bella! we're late!” he yelled to me as I ran down the steps of my front porch.
“I know, just drive!” I said when I clambered into the car. “shoot,” I murmured under my breath when I realized I had forgotten something.
“What? Should I turn around?” Mason asked slightly nervous.
“No, it's not important. I just forgot my jacket.” I reassured.
“You forgot one with me once, it's in the back if you want that one,” He said and I smiled and reached in the back for my plain black jacket. I pulled it on and we sat in silence for a while, before Mason broke it.
“Are you nervous?” he asked me and I nodded slightly.
“Extremely,” was my response, he nodded and placed his free hand on my knee, trying to comfort me.
“Talking helps,” he said, I laughed at that. Figures he would pick up his mom's traits. His mom is a therapist so it figures he'd think talking would help.
“Well, what if everyone hates me?! Or I don't know what they're teaching?! Or if everyone thinks I'm a weirdo?!” I spat out quickly each time getting more and more scared.
This is my first day of school, ever. I've been home schooled by my mom my entire life. She died last year and as hard as my dad tried he couldn't work and teach me at the same time. And now I'm starting in the middle of the sophomore school year, and I'm scared out of my mind. Which as it usually does, is coming out in tears.
“Don't cry babygirl. I know there is so much going around your head right now. But please calm down.” Mason tried to reason pulling into the car park. I nodded and wiped my face with the back of my jacket sleeve.
