I've been to the school before many times. Just never to be a student. I would often come to eat lunch or come to events with Mason. But this feels foreign.
“Hello, how may I help you?” A perky redhead asked from behind the desk.
“Hello, I'm Annabella finch. And I'm here for room assignments,” I said awkwardly. The lady nodded and walked into the back office.
“Okay, your first room is 522 on the second floor. I trust Mason can show you around?” She asked with a warm smile towards Mason. He seems to be really good friends with everyone here. Which I can clearly understand. He's extremely sweet, funny, charming, nice, attractive, the list goes on.
He nodded towards her and we walked off. We walked down several hallways and climbed the wide staircase. The walls had multiple colors trying to keep up a warm atmosphere.
Soon we entered the bright room and took seats next to each other. Somehow Mason had convinced them to keep us together, probably using my moms death and my extreme awkward and shyness to help with the persuading.
There were a few eyes on Mason and some shooting daggers on me as he tried to reposition my bangs to behind my ear.
I tried to ignore it but when the teacher called me up to the front of the class I couldn't handle it and pushed them back to swoop in front of my eye.
“Okay, class we have a new student joining us,” she said when I reached the front. “Why don't you tell us your name, and a little bit about yourself, before we get started.” she encouraged. My stomach is turning. The first impression is usually the one that sticks.
“Hello, my name is Annabella Finch, I'm fifteen,” I looked around the small room anxiously. My eyes drifted to Mason who was motioning to take a deep breath and relax.
I did and was much more calm. “I'm fifteen, my favorite color is lavender Purple. I love music and art, and I'm quite awkward.” I said with even breathing, even though my heart felt like it was beating out of my chest.
“It is very nice to meet you Annabella, you may take your seat.” she chirped happily. I sighed in relief as I walked down and sat beside Mason who rubbed my knee calming me.

“How do you feel?” Mason asked from beside me at the lunch table.
“As far as what? How my first day is going, or actual health?”
“both?” He said more as a question. I laughed and stood up to throw away our trash.
“As far as health, I'm fine. As far as first day, I don't know how it's supposed to be,” I said and he laughed. “I'll be right back. I'm going to the bathroom.” I said and walked off after throwing our trash away.
When I returned to the cafeteria Mason had a large group of people around him. He looked back and waved my forward when he caught sight of me. But I just shook my head. I was lost in thought until I saw him approach me, placing his large hand on the small of my back encouraging me closer to the crowed.
