Chapter two
I turned over in the bed to see Mason in front of me. I tried to get up, but he only tightened his grip around my waist. I continued to struggle, only to get a small chuckle from him saying he was awake.
“Mason,” I whined in a sleepy voice. He laughed and loosened his grip. I climbed out of the bed and went to the kitchen to try and find my dad. There was a note on the table. I wondered around looking for what I want to eat.
“What cha looking for?” Mason sounded from behind me.
“Something to eat. But I feel really lazy today,” I admitted. He nodded.
“Wanna go out for breakfast?” He asked and I nodded excitedly. I'm not sure why, but I started school for the first time on a Friday. But I'm not complaining.
I wondered through my closet and got out dark blue jeans. My 'I'm Irish' t-shirt, and my united kingdom flag suspenders. I got dressed and went to go finish my hair.
“You almost ready?” Mason asked appearing behind me in the bathroom.
“Yes, but we have to be back before one, my dad wants to spend the day with us,” I said and he nodded. I grabbed my phone and purse and we left after telling my dad what we were doing. Mason opened the car door for me but I told him I'd rather walk. He closed it and we made our way to our favorite ice cream and doughnut shop.
“Hello how ma-” Doris started. “Hey guys, what can I get you too today?” She finished when she saw us. Doris is one of my very favorite people. She's not old but her brown hair is starting to gray just a little bit. She's really sweet and motherly.
“Can we have three chocolate glazed cream filled doughnuts, three regular glazed cream filled, and two medium sized ice cream bowls please Doris?” Mason asked with a look to me. I gave him a reassuring nod, looking around the small not so popular store.
“Absolutely!” She said happily. She handed us both the ice cream bowls and Mason and I walked over to the counter and got our favorite types. I got mint chocolate chip and loaded it up with candy and hot fudge. Mason got strawberry and vanilla with some m&m's with strawberry syrup.
“Annabella, Mason, here you go!” Doris called from behind the counter. I smiled and shuffle walked back over and got the small box, and Mason payed her for it.
“Thank you, Doris!” I said Excitedly.
“Anytime!” she called back. I smiled and Mason grabbed the box and we walked to a small park just a little bit away from the shop.
we sat on the ground and ate in silence, not an awkward silence. Just a peaceful sit, listening to the sounds around us. When we finished I laid down on Mason's lap and just stared at the sky. His hands subconsciously played with my hair.
“Hey guys,” my dad called coming to sit next to us. He lifted me off Mason and sat me on his lap. I laughed. I've always been small. They just pick me up as they like. If I told them I didn't like it anymore they wouldn't, but I don't mind.
“Hi daddy,” I greeted him. He laid me back on Mason and took a doughnut out of the box.
“So, what are plans for the day?” Mason asked looking up to my dad who was sitting on a bench beside us.
“Doesn't really matter to me. Just wanted to spend the day with my two favorite people!” He exclaimed happily reaching down and tickling me.
“Can we go to the amusement park?” I asked with hope filled eyes, looking up to the two men. They smiled with a small nod. We walked back home, gathering all the things we would need for the day.
