Are We Friends?

Chapter 1: The Start of Winter

5...4...3...2...1... DING!

Finally it's the start of winter, I had been waiting for this day since 3rd of February, which was unfortunately the start of school nearly 4 months ago.

"Em wait up will you!" my best friend Kate was screaming at me from her locker. We always walk home together it has been a tradition since we started Senior School together 1 and a half years ago.

"Yeah sure but can you hurry up, I still need to pack!" I told her, you see tomorrow I am flying over to England, London to be more precise, for our June/July holidays. My mum thought that it would be a good idea to stay with some family friends over there because our family was having some difficulties and she didn't want that to disrupt my year 11 and 12 studies.

"I can't believe that you get to go over to London for the winter break while I'm stuck here in sub 0 temperatures!" she had been whining like this since we started year 11 the only time I got a break was when I threw her an absolutely fabulous 17th Birthday Party.

"Yeah I know, now will you please hurry up!" Kate was seriously the most disorganised person that I know of, finally after looking through her locker for a good 15 minutes she was ready to go.

"Yeah, yeah we can't all be as organised as Miss Emma Cole now can we?" I hated it when she called me by my full name and she knew that it irritated me as well, damn her... my train of thought was abruptly interrupted when I saw Kate walk full on into none other than Kody Bradshaw, the schools bad boy and the guy Kate has had a crush on since we started Senior School.

"Oh umm, sorry I didn't see you there. Here let me help you?" I was trying so hard not to laugh because the look on Kate's face as he said this to her was absolutely priceless.

"ah... n-no i-it's o-ok... i-i mean it was my fault" Now I seriously had to bite my tongue so I didn't laugh as she said this. Being her best friend I should help her.

"Thanks Kody, sorry my friend is such a klutz" I could see the death glare that Kate was giving me from the corner of my eye but I chose to ignore this.

"Oh well thanks Emma, sorry what's your friends name I don't think that we've met before." He whispered the last part in my ear, I wasn't part of the 'popular crowd' but I was fairly well known, especially since my twin brother was after all Kody's best friend, Jacob Cole. At home the two of us are like 2 peas in a pod, but at school we respect each other's privacy. Honesty I don't know how I am going to cope not being at to see him for nearly 3 weeks while I am away.

"Oh sorry, Kody this is my best friend Kate, Kate this is my brothers best friend Kody" This was a new piece of information to her, she knew that my brother was popular but she didn't see him when ever she came to my house because he would always be at his friends house, that's how it worked.

Secretly I didn't want Kody to meat Kate, she was beautiful: Tall, long legs, light brown hair, blue eyes, tanned and not too shabby in the bust department. If he found out about her, Kody would definitely go after her. It's not that I don't like Kody because I do he is like an older brother to me its just that he is a bad boy and all he wants from a girl is to get into their pants and then he dumps them, breaks their hearts and never calls them again and I don't want Kate to fall for that and end up getting her heart broken.

"Hi Kate, I think that Emma here has been holding out on me" I can't believe that he is trying to flirt with her after I only just introduced them. I gave him my best death glare! Which he either didn't notice or just ignored because he continued anyway.

"I mean if I had of seen such a beautiful thing like you around school I definitely would have introduced myself sooner" He winked at her and she giggled, could you believe it my best friend, the one who personally threatened my brother earler today after he hurt a girl in my science class was giggling, unbelievable.

"Oh really, well I think that Emma has some explaining to do to myself as well." Oh no I'm dead.

"Ok since you have now met each other I think its time for me to leave" I think that was rather smooth, but I really do need to get home. Screw walking I'll ring Jacob and see if he is still here and could give me a lift home.

"umm... Kody is Jake still here?" I forgot that I left my phone on the kitchen bench this morning.

"Yeah he's giving me a ride home." Great, just brilliant.

"ok, do you know where he is?"

"Walking up behind you now." He had a smirk on his face that gave me a clue that he was up to no good. Before I could ask any further I felt a strong arm wrap itself around my waist and fling me over the owners shoulder, should have guessed that was going to happen.

"Jake let me go!" I protested but he just chuckled and kept walking. To where I had no idea but I could see Kate and Kody running up behind me to keep up.

"No can do sis, you didn't stick up for me when Kate was abusing me so its pay back time!" argg that's what this is all about!

"No, no, no Jake think this through. Don't do anything that will get the leather in your knew Porsche destroyed!" That should stop him, I hope.

We aren't like billionaires rich but we do ok, both our parents are lawyers and unfortunately both of them are divorce lawyers and are constantly fighting one another in court and out of.

"Oh so you think that you are getting a lift home do you?"

"Jacob I am serious if mum and dad hear that you left me at school when it is like 5 degrees how are they going to feel?" I knew that pulling that trick out was not cool but he needed to be taught a lesson.

"You wouldn't Emz" Did this guy seriously not know me at all, of course I would!

"But I would Jakey" He hated me calling him that. "Ok fine, I'll just have to exact my revenge at home then" he said this with his trademark smirk on his face, since we wasn't actually going to do anything at school he had brought us to his car.

"I can't believe that I fell for that! Arggg that's such amateur stuff!" and I really couldn't believe that I fell for it, and worse Kate and Kody were sitting in the car recording the whole thing whilst laughing. Damn I am so screwed.
