Are We Friends?

Chapter 2: Awkward Does Not Even Begin to Describe it...

Let the humiliation begin. It was only a 15minute car ride home but it was the worst journey ever, Kody did not stop replaying how I supposedly acted! Even my traitorous best friend joined in. To say that I was cranky was an understatement.

"Come on, cheer up buttercup" I could hear Jacob's mocking voice from the front seat. So being the ever so mature 17 year old I was I gave him the silent treatment.

"Ooooh, look out bro she's giving you the silent treatment" god could Kody's voice get anymore annoying right now. I could see my 'best friend' snickering from the seat next to me, traitor!

"just laugh Kate we both know that you want to" I snapped at her, which caused her to jump slightly in her seat.

"come on sis just take a joke" yeah ok I was being a little bit immature but I don't care anymore.

"I will if you promise that the video never sees the light of day, and if you" I looked directly at Kody, "even mention it to someone else then I will kick you where the sun don't shine" I could see the colour drain from his face at the mention of the last part.

"is that a deal?" I was now asking the entire car.

"deal" they all replied at once.

"Emz this doesn't mean that I am not going to exact my revenge on you." Damn, I thought that he had forgotten about that. As he said that the car pulled up at our house where I jumped out of the car as fast as I could and ran for it.

I managed to get to the top of the stairs and past the first bathroom before his arms caught me around the stomach again and in one swift movement I was once again over his shoulder. He ran out of the house and in an instant I was flying into our pool. Luckily the heater was on so it was about 30 degrees, unluckily the outside temperature was 5 degrees and they locked the backdoor so in an instant I was freezing.

What they didn't know was that the laundry door was open because the dryer was going, I sprinted across the lawn and into the door. I threw open the door and ran to my brother engulfing him in the biggest hug, I ran for my life to my bedroom and the comfort of my ensuite. It only took me about 15 minutes to wash my hair and get warm again. A standard winter uniform is trackies, a baggy hoodie and ugg boots, I put my hair up in a bun and waltz down the stairs to confront my supposed 'friends.'

As usual they were all sitting by the fire watching re-runs of FRIENDS eating pizza, they are pitiful but I loved them.

"well look what we have here" my brother was first to say, he had this filthy look on his face.

"yeah it was quite a pleasant wakeup call" I could here Kody and Kate chuckle on the couch whilst my Jacob just scoffed.

"shut up" he snapped at the pair but that only made their laughter even louder.

"its ok jakey I forgive you" I cooed to him, I knew he would hate it but I didn't care he deserved it, muhaha revenge is sweet.

I heard him mumble a "whatever" before he himself ran up the stairs to take a shower. I slyly moved my self to the couch and then ran and jumped on them both. Kate screamed and fell off whereas Kody just moved over and I crashed into the back of the couch, I started laughing and throwing pillows at the pair before getting up and grabbing myself a piece of Hawaiian pizza.

We all settled down and just enjoyed our food and watched FRIENDS in silence, that's what I remember when before I fell asleep on the couch. Hours later I heard voices they were hushed but I could still make them out, I think it was my mother and father; Angela and Craig Cole.

"do you think we should send Jacob with her, I mean how will she react when she finds out?" my mother asked.

"I think we should, I don't know what she will say. It would also be good because we need to settle some cases and figure out what we are going to do about Elliot's will" my father told her. I wonder who Elliot is and what happened to him? Why are they being to secretive?

"Ok so we will not send her tomorrow but we'll book them both on an early flight on Saturday then?"

"sounds like a plan, how are we going to tell Jacob?"

"well we are just going to have to confront him tomorrow after their friends leave"

"alright..." I couldn't make out anything they said afterwards as their muffled voices were heading up the stairs towards their room.

I was to tired to talk to Jacob now but I knew that I would have to in the morning, that's how I went into a dreamless sleep once again.

I managed to wake up at 10 o'clock the next morning to the frying and sizzling of eggs and bacon... yummy (for some reason that word always reminds me of the wiggles).

The only reason that my mum cooked was when she wanted to break bad news to us, and I knew what this news was and it is going to crush Jacob his footy season was on the line and his ability to be drafted next year could be compromised. Coming with me will crush him.

I soon realised after the shock that Kody and Kate had left, mum had told them that there were important family matters that need to be discussed.

"morning mum, whats the bad news?" she looked at me shocked.

"h-how did you know?"

"you only cook us breakfast when there is bad news" she looked so pale I almost felt sorry for her.

"can you call your brother down please" I filled up a cup of water and took off up the stairs.

"rise and shine dear brother" I tipped the water on his face and he woke with a jolt "get your but down stairs, the parentals have bad news to tell us" this caught his attention and he went to the bathroom to dry himself before rushing down the stairs with me.

"kids we have some news for you..." my dad told us when we were sitting on the kitchen stools eating away at our eggs and bacon sandwiches.

"mmhmm" Jacob and I stat in unison.

"Jacob is going to London with Emma..." my mum replied anxiously. I kept my head down eating awaiting Jacobs response.

"WHAT!" Jacob screamed at our terrified parents.
