CASSIUS
"What do you want?"
I got straight to the point as soon as Malakai left the room.
I sat across the table with Malakai's 'benefactor'. Even though we never formally introduced ourselves I knew that her name was Romania from a time Malakai called out to her.
Her name suited her appearance in which it was uncommon, unique but still beautiful. But I couldn't let her appearance distract me at all while she was still under investigation. I needed to know what her intentions were for helping Malakai and I had to make sure that she wasn't working for my mother.
There were numerous temptresses that my mother usually sent my way to force me to get married and secure a heir to the throne. Though I don't think she'd use a method like this. I affirmed that the boy brought, was indeed my brother. If my mother knew of his location she would have long gotten rid of him.
I snapped out of my thoughts and began pouring out the tea for myself and the woman in front of me. Even though I didn't trust her, I did my best to host her well. I pushed the teacup in her direction while I waited for her to respond to my earlier question.
She didn't seem bothered or surprised by my behavior at all.
"Thank you for the tea." She said as she slowly brought the teacup to her lips. Her lips looked plum and well moisturized, almost welcoming as they parted for the teacup. I turned away briefly when I realized I was staring at her lips.
I cleared my throat—This was unlike me. I thought to myself as I took a sip of tea.
I kept my face as stoic as possible and watched her every movement. She noticed.
"Aren't—" I almost wanted to threaten her because she wasn't answering me at all, almost like she was ignoring me.
"Wait."
My frown deepened when she interrupted me. She handed me a letter which she pulled out from her bag.
"Sorry." She said as she handed me the letter. She apologized to me but I could see a faint smile behind her words.
I unfolded my arms and took the letter and read it.
I could've sworn that the moment my eyes left hers, and I began reading the letter, she mumbled. "He's really cute even when he's all serious and angry. "
She even dared giggle.
I turned my gaze back to her, and when I looked at her, she had her cheeks full with the tea. Almost like she put all of it in her mouth in one go.
She looked at me with wide eyes like she wasn't expecting me to look at her. She covered her lower face with her hands. And swallowed while I still looked at her.
"The tea..." She tried speaking and released her breath. "The tea was...delicious." She said while avoiding my eyes.
She must not like tea.
"Is that so? Let me pour you another cup then." I said and made my way to grab the teapot.
Her eyes widened, and she quickly waved her hands in front of her in protest.
"No!" She pulled back her cup and gave me a small smile before clearing her throat. "I mean...I'm fine. I'm satisfied just from that cup." She lied.
I didn't say anything and just looked at her for a few moments before I turned my attention back to the letter.
"If you say so."
After that, we sat in complete silence and she waited patiently while I read the letter.
