ROMANIA
"My name is Ellis. I am the head maid of the Crown Prince's compound. It's a pleasure to meet you, my Lady; please take care of me." The lady beside me smiled as she introduced herself.
I smiled back at her as I followed her lead. It's only been a couple of minutes since I left Cassius's office and Ellis would be leading me to where I assumed was my resting quarters.
She walked slightly ahead of me and I admired her straight posture, even while walking. Her black straight hair was tied in a neat bun. And she wore a black and white long-sleeved maid outfit.
I picked up on my speed so that we walked beside each other. I glanced sideways at her; she was a background character, so obviously, I had no idea who she was. But that didn't stop my curiosity. She looked well above 25 but not older than 30. I wondered how long she has been working here.
"Is there anything wrong?" She asked me as we continued walking. She still gave me a friendly smile.
I continued smiling back at her. "Nothing..." I started. She's not judging me despite my appearance, it's obvious that I'm not a normal noble or I don't look noble at all. Rather, her behavior was just tolerating...she wasn't giving me a grand tour or having her hands wide open, welcoming me, but just treating me as a basic normal guest. Which I was fine with.
"I was just wondering how long Ms. Ellis has been working here?" I couldn't hold back my curiosity. I wanted to ask about Cassius's life in his Palace, but I knew that it would be weird for me to just ask.
She turned and we began walking up a flight of stairs. It almost feels like we've been walking for ages...how big was this place?
"Just Ellis is fine, my Lady." She corrected and then continued. "This would be my 3rd year working for His Royal Highness since he gained his title of The Crown Prince."
I nodded. Oh, so she's been with Cassius for quite some time. So, she must know his habits and whatnot, right?... These are things I wanted to know purely for research purposes.
"How is His Highness living experience?"
The story never talks about Cassius's Palace life. What was mentioned was his past, his relationship with his mother and Malakai— That's all. After meeting Cassius in real life and it all sinking in that he's a real person I can and will be interacting with, I just thought it wouldn't hurt to know more than what I've learned from the story. Again, for research/survival purposes.
She glanced at me briefly. "...That, you should ask his Highness himself." She said politely, but I could tell her guard against me had risen.
I grimaced. She must be suspicious of me now. But I only asked one question about Cassius. I had to figure out a way to lower her guard.
"I'm sorry for preying. It's just..."I began while looking away briefly before continuing. "I think His Highness is extremely Handsome," I said with two thumbs up.
She paused and turned towards me fully. We stopped at a beautiful white door. Which was adjacent to an even more magnificent door. There were exactly 3 doors in the corner of the corridor we were in.
"So, does that mean my Lady is interested in his Highness?" She asked carefully with her hands neatly folded by her abdomen, her eyebrows raised.
"No, no, no." I quickly answered. I needed to make that clear on my stay here, however long that may be. It's not that I haven't thought of that possibility since I realized which world I was in. That I could have a romantic relationship with my favorite character.
