Ron was waiting for a reply from Harry, though he didn’t really expect one when he hadn’t been replying all summer, when a black owl tapped on his window, a smaller white one beside it. Frowning, he opened it and let the owls in. He didn’t recognize the owls, but he definitely recognized the handwriting on the envelope. He quickly undid the seal and scanned the contents of the letter.

Ron,

It's great to hear from you! I've missed you and Hermione. Is she going to be there too? When are you planning to go? Lin said he could take me to the Burrow or wherever you were thinking to meet up. Speaking of, I've got something awesome to tell you guys! Anyways, let me know when and where you want to meet. You can send a response back with Morgana, the black owl. Quilo is the white one. He’s training, so maybe give him a treat?

Harry

He nearly face palmed when he realized he had forgotten to ask his mother when they would meet Harry. He searched his brain for who Lin could be but came up with nothing. He hoped that was what Harry wanted to tell him.

The owls, Morgana and Quilo, stayed on his desk, obviously waiting for a reply. He gave them each a treat, which they gobbled up hungrily.

He set Harry’s letter beside Hermione's and bounded down the stairs. “Mum! Harry responded!”

“That’s wonderful, dear! Will he need picked up?”

Ron shook his head. “He said he got someone to take him. He wanted to know when and where we want to meet up.”

“He can meet us here in two days at noon. Hermione should get here tomorrow. Her parents said she would be coming to stay for the rest of the summer. You know, you can always invite Harry to stay as well.”

Ron lit up at the thought of Harry staying and he nodded. He raced back up the stairs and began to write back to Harry.

Dear Harry,

Mom says you can meet us at the Burrow at noon in two days. Hermione should be here by then. Mum says you’re welcome to stay for the rest of summer if you’d like. Hermione is. I’m glad you’re finally writing back. We were starting to get worried. Whose owl is Morgana? Is Hedwig alright? Who’s Lin? Anyway, can’t wait to see you!

Ron

He sealed the envelope and tied it to Morgana’s outstretched leg.

He watched as the owl flew off before returning to his thoughts. He wondered why Harry hadn’t responded until then. Surely he wasn’t too busy. Did he finally decide that Ron wasn’t worth his friendship? No, that was stupid. He responded to this letter and seemed happy enough to hear from Ron. So, then what was the problem?

Ron was snapped out of his thoughts when Ginny, his younger sister, knocked on the door and told him supper was ready.

Ron rushed to get to the table. His mum had promised that they would have his favorite tonight, so he had to be sure to get there before it was all gone.
