Jade walked in solace .The swift breeze accompanied him, whispering into his ears, kissing him all over the face as they walked home together.
His headphone gently clasped his tender ears, he was listening to one of Celine dion's famous tracks, 'My heart will go on'. The song carried it's bitter cut, his mind flew wild, he remembered his father.
It was just a casual day, as normal as can be, Jade and his mum had gone to the airport to pick his dad who had just arrived after two whole years in Mexico. Jade was joyous. He could barely remember what his father's face looked like, all he could remember was the conspicuous scar that laid arround a corner close to his left eye.
The young lad really wanted to see his dad again. But his mum, his mum was somewhere between indifference and nonchalance. The lounge wasn't at all a bad place, at least not to Jade. Nothing really bothered him, all he wanted was to see his dad again. And suddenly, there he was. His dad, standing akimbo in a plain black T-shirt and a blue jeans. Jade's anticipation consumed his reasoning the instant he saw his dad coming, dragging a box behind him, smiling. He almost fell to the ground when Jade jumped ontop of him. "aaah ah" he laughed. Jade's mum stood by the side, watching the little 'father and son' play Jade and his dad was putting up. She frowned. "mum... dad is here" Jade exclaimed. "yes" she said as she gave her husband a smirk.
"We have to be on our way now...it will soon get late" She said, already walking out of the lounge, not even saying a word to her husband, not even sparing him a glance. The swift breeze that escorted a speeding 'toyota 4runner' splashed dust on Jade's face, putting him out of his reverie. He was still on the road, alone.
He was already close to his house, just few meters away. "Why are you back so early?" his mum asked from the dinning immediately she heard the creaking sound on the door. She didn't even turn to see who it was, she knew it could only be Jade since there was no one else living with them except Sassy their cat. "Nothing" he faintly said, already finding his way up the stairs, to his room. "Jade!" she yelled "I'm tired mum" "Have you lost your mind?" she voiced, walking towards him like a cheetah to it's prey. "Why're you back home so early?" she asked again, now standing right in front of him. "I said nothing" jade replied with this tune that showed he was already irritated by her questions.
"How dare you!" she shouted with her right hand already raised to slap him but held by some unseen force. "Go to your room. Now!" she angrily ordered .Jade hated how life have been . His mother seemed not to care. The house had become a living hell, an arena for gladiators.
He quickly ran up the flight of stairs, banging the door behind him as he entered his room. He flinged his bag and cared less where in the room it landed or what it must have knocked down. He fell on his bed. Tears gathered at the corner of his eyes. He missed his dad. He wished his dad had never died.
Sally was on the floor, giving him a 'meow' and a forlorn look."Stupid cat!" he cursed, pushing sassy away the moment it climbed his bed. It was his mum's cat and he hated everything that belonged to her. He hated his mum.
