**FLASHBACK **
It was a pleasant day, soft air danced about, the happiness it carried was almost palpable. A sweet smile laid on Thompson's face. It was the first time anyone in school had ever seen him happy let alone smiling.
He was with his best friend, sorry, his only friend Jade. He was a famous school bully feared by all, juniors and seniors alike. Jade was the only one in school that dared talk to him, he was his only friend.
"We're still going, huh?" Thompson asked, almost drowning in anticipation. He and Jade had plans. They wanted to go see the beautiful water fall that graced the heart of the city. It wasn't often visited, especially during work days. Jade didn't really fancy the idea but he couldn't turn down the offer. He couldn't possibly say 'no' to Thompson.
"Don't tell me you still got your mind on that stuff" Jade wondered, giving him a slight grin.
"Of course... I've been dreaming about it all day" Thompson joked and then continued with a more serious face "So we're going right?"
"Yeah yeah. If it makes you happy"
"We're going now??"
"No"
"Please. It's almost closing time, pleeaase"he begged, simultaneously squeezing Jade's right hand.
"Okay, Okay. We'll go now. Let me get my bag."Jade agreed, making his already happy friend even more happier.
No one knew why Thompson was that excited, even Jade was a bit mesmerised at how much joy this plan of theirs brought him. It was just an old waterfall covered with tall grasses and uncut bushes. What then was the fuss all about? The two managed to sneak out of school four hours before dismissal. Thompson always had his ways around things.
They had to trek all the way to the waterfall that was way more than 60 kilo meters away from school. The sun was closer to the earth than it ever was, but it wasn't a problem at all, at least not to Thompson. He enjoyed every inch of the trek."Haa, at last" Jade exclaimed the moment the sounds of the splashing water became audible.
"You will swim with me... You must" Thompson said, already removing his T-shirt to show his well chiseled abs and his finely built biceps. Jade took a peep and looked away. "I saw you" Thompson said and smiled "What?" Jade asked with a voice that showed he was already becoming uncomfortable. "Nothing" Thompson smiled, now removing his stripped trouser that covered an undershorts with an enormous bulge that was now clearly showcased. He didn't hesitate even for a minute, he jumped into the blue coloured water as though it has been screaming his name all this while .
"You're crazy" Jade shouted and then laughed, using the back of his hand to wipe the droplets of water Thompson splashed on his face. "come join me..."
" Jaaade"
"I can't swim"
"Lair"
"I'm serious, I can't swim"
"Jump in, I'll teach you"
"No thanks" he gestured and then smiled at his friend who was elegantly swimming in the open water.
"You guys are not meant to be here" a strange looking boy warned. "Leave" he added, now giving jade a threatening stare.
"Why?" jade asked.
The normal him would never have spoken a word in this kind of scenerio. But today was different, he had an assurance. He had someone that could fight for him.
"Hey, get out of the water!" he shouted, totally ignoring Jade. "We ain't leaving." Jade voiced.
"I'm not repeating myself!" he warned.Jade never wanted to swim, but he didn't want to do as the boy said. So he removed his shirt, and then his trousers, and wanted to find his way into the water, ignoring the boy who was already vexed. "And where do you think you're going?" the boy heated, dragging Jade back and pushing him to the ground. "Hey, Hey, Hey" Thompson shouted as he rushed out of water. "What the fuck man" Thompson irated, giving him a furious push on the chest.
Fighting was already a normal thing for Thompson, but this time, he was raging. He hated it when someone picked up on Jade. His anger boiled stronger as he grabbed the boy by the collar and landed him two powerful punches on the face.
It was a full fleshed fight, the boy's face was designed with bleeding bruises. Thompson too was not left untouched. His faced also suffered several wounds. Yet, none of them cared, all they wanted was to fight till their last strength.
The boy maneuvered, he was now on top with Thompson pinned to the ground. Thompson's face was pounded by the powerful punches of a tightly clenched fist.
Jade was just at a corner, watching as his friend was brutally beaten. The atmosphere suddenly became tensed, the joyous air was not at all breathable anymore. There was now sudden silence. Jade's heart flew out of his chest, he instantly grew norm, his senses suddenly switched off. Thompson was still trying to understand what had just happened. It was swift and certainly spontaneous, no one expected it.
Jade and his friend stared down from the high cliff at the body of the boy that was just ontop of Thompson, neck broken, skull cracked. He was pushed down the cliff, Jade pushed him!The boy was still breathing, but it was obvious he would never make it, his neck was completely snapped.
The water arround the rocky layers of the water fall where he laid was all blood red.
Jade didn't understand what just happened. He only wanted to get him off Thompson's body, now, the poor boy is at the foot of the cliff, struggling to grasp in air.Thompson was as confused as Jade was. He didn't want to be part of it. He swiftly picked up his clothes and ran away. Jade did same, leaving the boy in the deserted waterfall, panting, dying.
