Madeline gripped her newly gifted sword, it had a dark green blade and black hilt, quickly she tied it to her waist and turned toward the party, her ritual into knighthood, people stand to the side in a line, new and old they all smile in happiness, Madeline walked forward toward the emperor in a fully black attire seem to smile in happiness as she walked closer and closer to him, before she could noticed she was in front of him while he carried the knighting blade, "Madeline Green from the Black Forest, as the emperor of the great empire of Greystone, I knight you Madeline the death mage." Madeline looks at the blade and quickly rested her hand on the blade, from her touch the blade turned a light and dark green "With the recent passing of your mentor, Galen the shadow knight you shall now hold his place in the knight of nine, but not his rank due to your well known potential you won't be starting at rank 9 as the knights before you but at rank 7 cause as others have commented we need a knight more than we do a mage." Madeline looked at the blade, her frown grows at the memories of Galen.

But quickly she exhaled and shook her head, "I know I have many duties, I will follow them the best I can, and I will make sure I make Galen proud for choosing me even if it's beyond the vale." The sword's change of color grew further and throughout more of the sword soon it covered it causing a small spell circle to circle Madeline's hands going from there to up her body encasing her in new and more fitting clothing for a knight, the emperor smiled "As your first mission, I ask that you investigate the tower of Arcane." Madeline's eyes widened at the name of that tower her memory's of it, wasn't pleased her short stay felt like an eternity, but quickly she nodded without another form of response.

A few days after Madeline's knightly welcome

Madeline looked at the tower doors, the towers was the oldest religion symbol for the main 9 gods, the one they were currently at being the Tower of Arcane twin towers Cybil the goddess of magic, Arcane was the god of knowledge of all forms. She knocked on the door and quickly a nunly figure opened welcoming Madeline with a smile, "You must be the new 6th knight, I was told you were here for a long stay?" Madeline nodded, "Miss Violet, It will take maybe a few weeks to see what had happened to my mentor, so yes." The nun nodded her head stepping aside and welcoming Madeline in, Madeline quickly stepped in and saw many people running around in some kind of hurry "Have you been in the tower of Arcane before?" Madeline nodded, "Back when I was young, I was originally put into the tower of Cybill, but we did visit here a few times in my short two years of living here." The nun looked at Madeline shocked she then laughed holding onto her stomach, "My living for so long does change your version of short, to me a simple human two years is long. But I am glad you have had the pleasure of staying with us before, as the rules remain mostly the same, boys and girls separated by levels in the tower girls are in the 4th, boys 5th, the library is in the 6th level, you are allowed access to most levels of course our basement as that is where we hold our relics." Madeline nodded.

They both walked over through some hallways passed some doors then up some stairs ending up in the 4th level, after some more walking they quickly walked through more hallways, Madeline was led off to a dorm room full of other girls her age or a little bit younger, quickly most looked at her with a smile, some with bits of disdain the nun stepped forward "Evening girls, today a new one will be joining you." She quickly stepped to the side and smiled "This is Madeline Greene, a knight she will be investigating the recent departure of Galen Greene. While living with us temporarily, she will be treated as any other. With care and respect."

Violet quickly walked out of the room but Madeline quickly followed closing the door behind her she grabbed the lady's wrist "Miss Violet this is official matters I should stay, in the staff levels." Violet looked down and saw her hand and forcibly moved her hand forward causing Madeline to let go she walked a few inches forward and turned "You are a guest in the tower of Arcane and as a guest even on official business you are locked to specific parts and levels of the tower for your investigation, you may have access to the room Galen was staying in but under strict supervision, you will also have access to where he died and to his old stuff but beyond that your treated the same as any guest or students meaning besides library, teachings, and prayer levels you are locked to everywhere else besides the dorm at specific hours. And again Miss Greene the basement is one of the levels and rooms off limits, there are too many things down there that is too dangerous."

Madeline sighed "I'm sorry if I'm asking for too much but please Galen was there for me almost my entire life is there no way I could convince the head scholar." Violet sighed and looked both ways for any listeners, "Fine you may have unsupervised access to his room and a complete updated log of his stay, beyond and up until you leave, anything else is out of my hands." Madeline smiled and nodded "Thank you." Violet nodded and left Madeline reentered the room and quickly found an unclaimed bed in a small corner and sat down.

She sighed and looked around to see all the girls staring at her with curious eyes  "Your not a student of knowledge." One of them said confused, Madeline smiled and shrugged "I was for half a year the rest I spent most of my time in The Tower of Cybil for 1 and a half years." Madeline said smiling, the girls smiled the one who asked the question stepped forward with a clear look Madeline could see she had smile cuts, "A student of magic." She had said bright eyed, suddenly a small alarm could be heard and quickly everyone but Madeline gathered and left, Madeline sighed and laid down on the bed, suddenly she felt a slight tap on her knee, she lifted her head up and saw it was a little boy, with round goggles on, he carried papers that were in a large folder.

The boy smiled and offered the papers "Names Carmen Forest." he said the boy known as Carmen had dark brown hair with tan skin and light green eyes Madeline sat up and looked at him confused "Thought boys weren't allowed in this level. Whole rules and stuff." Carmen nodded his head "Miss Violet thought it would be good for me if I delivered the informing to you, since I want to be a knight myself, and out of the nine I want to be just like you." The wide eyed boy said Madeline looked at him confused "I only just got knighted how am I already someone's dream mentor?" The boy smiled "I read all about your yes as an adventurer then when you turned knight it was all over even in the towers." Madeline feeling a bit giddy slowly grabbed the papers but before she could take them the boy grabbed her hand "Please, I wish to be your student." Madeline quickly pulled her hand yanking away the papers "First off boy I'm a student of magic, knighthood was never my first choice it was magic." The boy although still shocked by her ease on not ripping the folder even a tiny bit  shook his head "I can also do magic." Madeline looked at the boy, he smiled holding out his hand and generating a small unnoticeable fire ball.

Madeline sighed "A small unnoticeable flame, your magic pool isn't large." Carmen shook his head with a slight smile "My body's always been weak to be a regular knight, so I wish to be the second you." Madeline sighed she lowered her head covering her face with her hands "Look with your mana pool size you have even a less of a chance surviving as a mage, you'll be better off, becoming what they teach you here like a politician." Carmen centered his hands toward his chest creating a distance between them, Madelines face began to form a frown "I know what your trying to do, a spell that level. You won't be able to-" suddenly from the center of Carmen's hands a spark lit, slowly the spark got bigger and began to change form to a transparent dagger. Carmen grabbed it and extended his hands showing Madeline, "Please I can do this." Madeline looked at the boy and groaned "Fine, but you're human so you might not get all done in a short time."

Madeline sighed, "but for now I will read up on these logs." Carmen with a satisfied smile nodded "Just make sure Head scholar Adar, doesn't catch you with those logs." Carmen turned and walked, but once he was passed some beds stopped his head turned a little "If I were you look really hard into the basement logs." Madeline nodded causing Carmen to quickly leave.
