Wait, wait! I'm getting a little ahead of myself here. I completely forgot to tell you about finding and going to the prince's tomb. So allow me to rewind and tell you about my process of following the trail and how awesome this prince technically was.

See when the story tells us that he fought and defeated the guardian serpents, I don't mean a couple of baddies like the cobras and vipers. Yes, I'm sure that they had some there but the story goes that he went through six miles of snakes, scorpions and many many other reptiles that held the book. Then in the final box, he had to square up with the eternal serpent.

"Wait, pause for another second please darling. Why are there so many snakes and reptiles? Wouldn't they just fight amongst each other or try to eat another?"

He's lucky I'm a sucker for his beautiful accent. The man could easily portray Mr. Darcy, if Mr. Darcy was from the middle east. Yet, instead of gracing others with his prescence in Hollywood, he chose to grace the classrooms in the universities with his very modern independent study of research of lore.

I always liked that about his class or loved about his teaching method. I mean, do you know how many times I've gotten an F on a report or paper because those brainwashed narrow minded teachers wouldn't accept unorthodox pieces. Like I got called in for detention once because for our final exam, we had to write on aspects of the afterlife and how they have affected our culture. Well, that's exactly what I did!

I wrote my paper on the song Hotel California by The Eagles. A goddamn masterpiece that song, but you can't tell me that the driver in that song didn't die on the desert highway. That that hotel wasn't some sort of purgatory. But not to lose focus, with him, as long as we did the proper research, presented the facts and evidence without mixing it up the two with beliefs in the lore when giving our presentation then we would get an A.

But when I handed in my first paper on Thoth, I didn't think that he would actually spend the entire summer helping me with locating a tomb or whereabouts. Let alone be ok with wanting to bring an egyptian god back to life. In fact, he still hasn't told me why he believes me or why he's willing to assist me. I just know that the first day of summer came and he was at my door asking if he gave me all the money I could ask for, would I be willing to do it.

The moment I had said yes I had my bags packed and ready within the hour.

"Ok, that's technically a fair question. My honest opinion is that the same way that familiars are used by witches through some form of enchantment or magic, then those guarding the book must've been enchanted in some way." I replied.

He nodded and gestured for me to continue.

So when he came across the six miles of serpents, he recited a spell that prevented them from coming up. My guess is that allowed him to pass. When he made it to the eternal serpent, that is when he actually fought. Swinging his weapon, he cut it in half. Yet, it healed and returned its form. So he cut it again. The serpent healed once more. Third time seemed to be the charm for when he cut it, he put sand between the two pieces. With that, the serpent died because it could no longer resume its form.

Opening a box of iron, a box of copper, one of juniper wood, then of ivory and ebony, and then one of silver, next was one of gold until finally the golden box held the book inside.

Now this is where some stories differ. In some, Thoth ran to Pre to report his theft. He made a plea to Pre, telling him that he was his. For no one on the ship to make it back to Memphis safely. In others, the prince would make it back safely and until he held his wife and child in his arms was he punished with their deaths.

From there we know what happens, right? I just freaking told you. So let's fast foward to my amazing discovery of the tomb of the prince. I'm not trying to sound like a cliche, but the moment my eyes layed upon the necropolis it was like something knew I was there. As if I was being watched.
