the sun emerged from behind the dusky sky covered in thin clouds. it was a beautiful morning to start the winter break. aurora was standing by her window holding her chin up with her palms watching the sun rise through the vast void of purples, blues and greys.

there was a very light blanket of icy snow on the ground. just enough to leave shallow footprints as you walked.

"rory! breakfast!" claudia, aurora's mother's voice boomed. the young girl scurried out of her bedroom and into the kitchen where her family was gathered. "morning." she greeted them quietly before sitting down.

"mary-lou and the boys are visiting for dinner today." claudia announced to the table. rory was pleased, she enjoyed spending time with matt and nick.

matt and nick were special to aurora. they were both people that she could be herself around without any fuss. the three of them just had the same mindset. matt was laid back but a little bit timid, whereas nick was the opposite of timid but also remained laid back in every situation.

usually the three of them would go on swift trips to fast food places, then cuddle up and watch old nineties movies. or else they would do something more impulsive like late night swims at the beach house, during the summer.

whenever aurora was accompanied by another, she would allow the standard way to hang out with someone take over rather than letting her urge to do something more exciting take over like it did when she was with the boys. nonetheless, she never really cared.
