aurora had to force herself to let chris stay with her for the rest of the evening. she was suprised that matt and nick hadn't come up yet, and she was suprised that chris would even ask that question in the first place.

the room was silent as chris lay on rory's bed watching her read her book.

"what're you reading?" he blurted out, scolding himself for trying to talk to her. but before he could say something snarky to rile her up, she was already answering his question.

"the spanish love deception." she replied, turning in her chair to face him. this was the first time she had looked at him since he entered the room.

"the what?" chris asked.

"the spanish love deception." she repeated. "it's about a girl and a guy she works with faking a relationship, but then they end up actually falling in love." aurora explained.

"oh." chris replied blankly, staring at her. he watched as she told him about the book. it was obvious that she liked it, she smiled and her green eyes glistened with excitement every time she looked at it.

he admired that.

wait. why did he have something positive to say about aurora labella? chris hates aurora labella. always has, always will.

he almost leapt out of his own skin when his two brothers stormed into the room.

"well, what a sight for sore eyes."

rory went to sleep early and peacefully that night, knowing she would be spending the majority of her day tomorrow packing for the lapland trip.

christopher on the other hand, had trouble sleeping that night. he had been thinking of aurora since he left the labella household that evening.

it was making him mad. he had always hated the girl. she was stupid, and weird and, annoying.

and interesting.

and she had a pretty smile.

chris squinted his eyes and squeezed his pillow tighter into his chest. what was wrong with him?
