but we were friends
good friends, i think
maybe even more
i always felt it
and i think you did too
because it always felt
different with you
when you were with your friends, though
you changed
more cold, distant,
simply—detached.
i just could have sworn
that when we were alone
i saw the real you—
i suppose not.
