Sophomore year

"Faye, can you go wake up your brothers please, they need to get ready for school"My mother asked, she looked really radiant this morning and I could tell she was genuinely happy.

"Tell Maurice to do it."I sulked.

"Faye! Now."She whipped around with a knife in her hand. My eyes bulged and I ran to wake up Jake and Grant.

"Get up!"I poked them both with a metal stick repeatedly.

"Owwww...I'm telling."Grant whimpered and ran out the room followed by Jake.

"Faye you didn't have to poke them with a stick" my mother grumbled hitting me upside my head. I rubbed my head and ate the cereal before going to get dressed.

"Where's dad?" Grant asked, he was usually up and drinking coffee by now.

"Your father is sleeping Grant .."She answered, smiling lightly.

"Ok boys go wake your father and tell him it's time for him to take you to school."she heaved a big sigh and pushed them off.

"Ready for school Faye?"She smiled and fluffed my hair some more before tapping my nose.

"Mom I'm officially a sophomore now."I giggled in a child like manner and waited for her in the car. Selena drove me to school.

"Megan!!"I cheered excitedly exiting the car and slamming the door closed, running over to my best friend.

"Faye!"she cried pulling me into a hug.

"You two literally saw each other all summer, I can't catch a break."My mother rolled her eyes.

"Shoo mom your embarrassing me."I said in between my teeth before Kevin came over and kissed my lips. Good thing she took the hint and sped off down the street.

"Hey baby, party at my house, Megs you can tag along."Kevin kissed my cheek and winked at Megan before walking off.

"So we are going to his party right?"Megan chimed annoyingly, I rolled my eyes and sighed.

"Yes Megs, we are going."I finished my lunch and dumped the tray near the trash can.
Kevin has been my boyfriend since freshman year and overall things were great. I was really beginning to let myself get these really deep feelings about him.

My phone buzzed, it was mother. She never called me while I was in school unless it was very important or she needed a favor.

"Yes mom?"I turned away from Megan to answer the call.

"Sweetie your dad is in the hospital, he got into a small accident. The boys are okay but your father has a huge gash on his arm from protecting the boys."

"Momma come get me."I whispered, my eyebrows raised as tears almost slipped from them.

"Sweetie I can't, I have to stay here with your father and drive them all home. It's a process...but I promise I'll keep you updated okay. You better not be crying either Faye."

I quickly stopped the one tear and took a deep breathe.

"Okay momma, tell everyone I love them and kick daddy's ass when you get the chance." I hung up the phone and got to next period.

"Megan, I'll be right back."I stood up and bumped into Misty who narrowed her eyes at me

I growled, and moved past her and continuing my journey to the bathroom.

"You got balls little Faye."Misty approached me in the bathroom her cronies blocking the door.

"No I believe it is you with genital problem."I raised an eyebrow.

"I didn't come here to fight with you, I came here to deliver a piece of information from the former girlfriend of Kevin. Watch your lil "best friend" Megan cause that girl look shady."Misty said,eyeing me.

"Yeah. okay. whatever."I pushed past them again and went to my next class.
