"That sounds nice."
Vanessa says. A heavy emotion settling on her chest, forcing her to remember her dad.

"Yeah, it was."
She can't help but envy his childhood, yet pity him- hate her own father for taking the lives of children. Mike's brother, especially. She was her father's daughter, after all. A daughter of a killer.

Was it really possible to envy- yet love someone at the same time? That's how it is with Mike (and her father).

It's no surprise that she would die in her father's arm. There's no better ending. Maybe, this was what he wanted, to kill his own daughter.

It's no surprise there's a knife on her stomach, with the fingerprints of her own father.

"Dad..?"
Vanessa cries out. And just for a moment, she could finally see a hint of emotion in her father's eye. Her hands were stained- stained with guilt, shame, blood, and so were his.

It's no surprise her father didn't feel remorse. It was in his nature, after all. She just hoped he still loved her, and how pathetic she must have looked, helpless on the ground. A police officer who couldn't even stand up to her father.

"He really messed you up, didn't he?"
Yeah. He did. He really did. That must have been pathetic to Mike, how your own father made you a pawn to his sick, twisted games but you obeyed.

Yet, you loved him. How could you not? How could,

Vanessa loves him. She still does. Atleast, she convinced herself to love him. She wanted to make him proud- to not disappoint him, to not let him down. All she wanted him to say was-

"I love you, Vanny. Sweet dreams."
No. This wasn't him. This is unlike him. (But she wished it was). She hoped that it would end soon, she didn't want to think any longer.

He never said it. He never did. (He said it, he did say it). She didn't want to admit. She's terrible. What a terrible person- daughter, she was. How she couldn't forgive her own father.
