I hope our friendship lasts forever...
Elina thought as she smiled to herself, but her thoughts were cut short by Jiya's sarcastic voice.
"By the way, did you see what you didn't let me say earlier?" Jiya asked, raising an eyebrow at Elina.
"Heck yeah!! And now I feel I shouldn't have stopped you!!" Elina replied, feigning a distressed look.
"Who are you guys talking about?" Hana chuckled lightly as she joined the conversation.
"Who else? It's KEVIN," Jiya said with a shrug.
Hana furrowed her brows, confused. "Kevin? Why would he trouble her??"
"Because this morning she ki- ouch!!" Jiya exclaimed as Elina stepped on her foot, glaring at her.
"What?? What happened this morning??" Hana asked, looking back and forth between them.
Haha, nice question!!
"Well, you see, Elina just kicked Kevin this morning," Jiya said nervously.
Elina widened her eyes but soon relaxed.
Well, kicking him is better than kissing him.
"Oh no!! Are you okay?? Did he shout or scream at you?? I'm sorry on his behalf," Hana said, smiling sympathetically at Elina.
Elina sighed, knitting her brows. "No, actually, he didn't scold me, but he was so rude and cold!! He doesn't even know how to talk properly to someone!! I know what happened was embarrassing for me too, but that doesn't give him the right to be so rude!!!" She vented her anger all at once, rolling her eyes and sighing heavily.
"Oh," Hana said, laughing awkwardly while lost in thought.
Kevin and Hana knew each other because of their families and had attended the same school. They had always been among the top students. Kevin wasn't particularly close to her, but he was always polite and helpful whenever she needed him.
Elina brought Hana back to reality. "By the way, why did you ask?"
Hana laughed lightly. "Oh, nothing special. I was just asking because, you know, he always gets angry if any girl tries to get close to him."
Elina mouthed an "oh" and thought, her expressions changing rapidly.
Wait—does that mean I got spared? But why did he spare me? Or what if he's just acting and plans a prank later on? I must be cautious!!
"Okay, guys, let's stop talking about Kevin and head out of school. We've been standing here for so long," Hana said, prompting them to start walking out when Jiya spoke again.
"Well, I'm going to create our chat group!!" Jiya announced.
Hana and Elina chuckled as they left the school. Hana waved goodbye as she got into her car, while Jiya and Elina took the bus.
"By the way, how come you guys moved back here during your senior year?" Jiya asked.
"Well, Dad got a new job here, so he decided to take us all with him. It was lonely there; only I know how I spent those years," Elina said, smiling at Jiya.
"No worries!! Now that you're here, you won't feel lonely anymore!!" Jiya assured her with a smile.
Time skip to Elina's point of view at home
"I am home," Elina called out as she removed her shoes. She saw her mother watching TV, engrossed in her favorite actor's comeback news.
"Hm~ After freshening up, just go to the market," Mrs Charles said without taking her eyes off the TV.
