"Die you bi*ch!!" he shouted as he came towards her while Elina turned back and widened her eyes as she saw him and couldn't react as it was too quick.
Is it- the end for me?
Elina closed her eyes, bracing for the worst, but then she heard the sound of a struggle and the knife dropping to the ground. Slowly opening her eyes, she saw Kevin grappling with the man, strangling him.
"Are you okay?" he asked her, his focus still on subduing the man. Elina nodded, too shocked to speak, her mind reeling from the sudden change in events.
Flashback
Jiya called the police and rushed to the front of the store but saw no one. She was about to go inside to alert the shopkeeper when she noticed a sign on the door that read:
Washroom break
"Argh!!!" Jiya shouted, pulling her hair in frustration.
What do I do?? Whom do I call??
Desperate, she was about to leave the store area to find help when she saw Kevin approaching. Her eyes widened with relief.
"Thank God."
"Kevin!!!" she shouted, running towards him.
Kevin's Point of view
I was heading to the convenience store to pick up some snacks when I saw Jiya running towards me, looking frantic.
"What happened, Jiya?" I asked, concerned.
Third person's point of view
"Elina- Elina-" she panted, and Kevin's eyes widened in panic.
"What happened to her?!" he asked urgently.
Jiya quickly explained the situation,
"This girl-" Kevin said under his breath as he dropped his bag and sprinted towards the old room behind the store, Jiya looked at his bag as she decided to carry it and follow him.
She was following him but just then saw the store manager returning, she looked towards Kevin's fading figure and then back towards the store and decided to ask him for help.
"Sir, I need your help," she said, carrying all three bags as she released a heavy breath.
Flashback over
"Are you okay?" Kevin asked again, still holding the man in a chokehold. Elina nodded, her focus entirely on Kevin.
I could've died if it weren't for him...
"Where's the other girl?" Kevin asked.
"Huh? Oh-" Elina turned to see the girl unconscious in the corner. "Oh no!" Elina said, rushing to her side. She placed the girl's head on her lap, gently patting her cheeks. "Hey- can you hear me?" But there was no response, the girl drenched in sweat.
The man tried to fight back, but Kevin tightened his grip until he passed out. He then joined Elina, assessing the girl's condition.
"She might have fainted from panic. Let's take her to the hospital," Kevin suggested. Elina nodded, and Kevin carefully picked up the girl. As they left the room, Elina found a rope to tie up the unconscious attacker.
They emerged to find Jiya with the store manager and two police officers. The officers quickly took over, and Elina explained the situation.
"Is she alright?" one officer asked, referring to the unconscious girl.
