April 28th, 2015"Drawbridge is down, people." Stark stated.
That was the least of my concerns at the moment. I spotted Natasha knelt down in the snow over Barton who lied on his back, wincing in pain. I slid beside them, narrowly avoiding the blasts from Hydra's weaponry around us as I gazed down at Barton with deeply furrowed brows.
"Your eyes are sharp enough to have a perfect shot, but not sharp enough to avoid being shot?" I scolded him, despite looking over his bad wound with worry.
It looked as if an entire chunk of flesh had been ripped out of his right side. Natasha was working quickly in a slight panic to wrap it as tightly as she could to stop the bleeding. I quickly took over the fabric she was using to wrap it with, and pulled it even tighter with strength that she didn't have.
Barton gave a slightly louder wince as my rough movement, but still forced out a slight chuckle. "I got distracted."
"Clint's hit pretty bad, guys. We're gonna need evac." Natasha stated in her earpiece.
I sighed, shaking my head as I secured the wrap in place, then scanned all of our surroundings to try and map out where all of Hydras troops were around us. "We gotta get him to the jet now and fast. He's losing a lot of blood."
"I can get Barton to the jet. The sooner we're gone, the better. You and Stark secure the scepter." Thor replied.
"Copy that." Steve acknowledged.
I carefully lifted Barton off of the ground with hardly any effort, using his arms to hold his body up while Natasha kept him steady. He winced at the movement, but I had to get him out of the middle of the battlefield before Thor showed up.
"This isn't payback for Siberia, is it?" Barton questioned me, weakly.
I rolled my eyes as I wrapped his arm around the back of my neck and carried him towards the trees as quickly as I could while Natasha covered us. "Believe me, if this was payback, you'd know it."
"Looks like they're lining up!" Thor stated in my earpiece.
"Well, they're excited." Steve rasped, lowly.
I heard a familiar, loud metallic echo throughout the trees, causing me to wince from the stinging ring in my ears. I hated when they used the hammer and shield as some sort of energy blast. Though it was effective in taking out surrounding enemies, I always paid the price for it. Even when I wasn't anywhere near them.
"God, I hate it when you guys do that!" I growled, continuing to drag Barton further into the trees while Natasha shot at nearby troops as she followed closely behind.
"Sorry, Kara." Steve apologized.
I gave a slight scoff. "No you're not."
"Find the scepter." Thor cut in, followed by the distant sound of his hammer whooshing through the air.
"And for gosh sake, watch your language!" Stark teased.
There was a slight pause before Steve lowly rasped, "That's not going anywhere anytime soon."
I stopped near one of the trees, ensuring that Barton was covered as he slowly began to lose consciousness. I glanced over his features, raising a hand to lightly slap at his cheek.
"Hey, stay with me, Barton. You sleep on me, I'll ensure you don't sleep again for a week." I threatened while glancing down at his still excessively bleeding side.
Natasha huffed out a slight chuckle. "Leave it to you to throw out threats when worried."
Thor dropped down next to us from out of the sky, instantly locking his pale blue eyes on Barton's weak form as I continued holding him up. "Hand him to me. I'll get him to the jet the fastest."
