Yuvraaj Singh Chauhan
"Any chance you can wake him up?" I ask Rudra, swinging the baseball bat in my hand playfully. Now I know why Agastya's so obsessed with this thing. It's sturdy, it's light, and boy can it break a bone or two without letting you sweat a bullet.
Tearing his eyes off the unconscious body, he looks at me incredulously. "It's not really fun beating him up when he's not reacting," I shrug.
"I think he's past the reacting phase." He deadpans. "The guy's good as dead. What are you doing?"
"What?" The end of the bat hits the floor.
"You're not planning to kill him, are you? He's still on the search list. Killing him would really mess up things for us. Especially when Arjun has his hawk-like eyes set on us."
"How is it going to mess up anything? He just stays missing until they give up and close the case," I state. "And don't worry about that young lad, I can take care of him." I wave my hand in a dismissal.
"How many times are you going to take care of him?" Rudra asks sarcastically. "Chances are, he's already suspicious that you're onto something. If he gets a whiff of it, it'll be bad for you and Sara. And don't start with the 'I'll get him off the case' bullshit. You know that doesn't work. If we had done what we did openly, it'd be us in the jail right now, not the Chairman."
"That ancient thing is still alive?" I scrunch my nose.
"That's not-" he shakes his head, "Why do I even bother?"
"Look, I just called you down here to know whether you can wake that up or not." I swing the bat again.
"Will you stop that?" He steps back cautiously.
"It's a darn good weapon." I toss it up and down. "No wonder Agastya's so obsessed with it." I shoot it an appreciative glance.
"You know that's not why Agastya loves it, right?"
"I feel like it's wasting its potential by hitting balls all day. It's made for better things."
"Like breaking bones?"
"Yeah, like breaking bones."
"I'm pretty sure that's not legal."
"Sucks." I grip the bat and swing the barrel to hit the man's hipbones. He barely even flinches. "See, he doesn't react anymore. It's boring." The corner of my lips twists to the side in disappointment.
"Oh God, I've a brother-in-law who's way too casual with violence," Rudra stalks out hurriedly.
I lock up the chambers and follow him back upstairs. "You think he's in need of a doctor?"
"I think he's in need of a casket at this point,"
"So he's dead? But his heart's still beating."
"And unless you want that heart to stop forever, get him help." He throws me a pointed look over his shoulder before entering my bedroom. I walk inside behind him and close the door.
"Help from whom?"
"I don't know? Vivaan? Ayush?" He throws his hands up exasperatedly.
"I can't traumatise my brothers. Have you seen Karan's condition?"
"Oh yeah, I did. You gave me a whole show, remember?" He walks up to my bar.
"You're used to it. My brothers lived a sheltered life."
