Yuvraaj Singh Chauhan
[ two hours before the call ]
When I said I have been sane for too long, and that I need to be insane now, I didn't mean this. I wasn't challenging my fate to take away the one person that makes me want to become a better man and mock me in the face with the fact that I'm destined to be alone. Because God forbid something happens to that woman, I'll make my destiny become the world's destiny. Because as they say, misery loves company. And mine will build a God damn community.
"Any update!?"
Rudra releases a tough breath. "It's been five minutes since you last asked me that question." His fingers fly across his keyboard, pressing God knows what, because nothing good has come up with all that damn clicking.
I clench my jaw. "Maybe if you put Yara to it-" he sends me a sharp glare over his screen, his eyes shifting behind him towards the balcony where Arjun stands speaking to someone on the phone.
"He's already on it. Stop mentioning him."
"I cannot believe you're afraid of losing a God damn AI when your sister has been missing for three fucking days!" I hiss.
"Well, guess who's actually working to find her rather than just throwing tantrums around!?" He snaps back.
Taranya presses her fingers to her temples.
Same, Taranya, same.
"I can see how much that's helping us. It's been an hour and all you're doing is pressing a bunch of keys on your laptop!"
"And what are you doing!?" He demands.
"I've told the DCP to dispatch three teams to every fucking where. I've got in touch with the RTO department. And I even talked to that misandrist CEO of NYX Securities, dowright begging that woman to release three teams of her best officers! Do you know what a hard fucking nut that woman is to crack? Am I still expected to go on!?"
Arjun walks back inside the house. "Woah, what's going on here?"
"Well, how about this! I did-"
"Oh, just cut it!" Taranya shrieks. "It's not a fucking competition. What the hell is up with you guys? Why are you acting like a bunch of teenage boys!?
"Sara is lost. We don't know where she is. Whether she is fine or not. And it's been three days! She is our focus. Not who's doing how much to find her. At least, find her first. Such morons!"
Rudra looks back down at his laptop and I run a hand down my face.
"I cannot believe three days and you couldn't check up on her." Arjun mutters.
"Excuse me?" I look at the man offended.
"Isn't she your girlfriend?" He claps back.
I roll my eyes. "Maybe I'm not a clingy boyfriend!?"
"Or maybe just not a responsible one?"
"Dude, mind your own business." Rudra says brusquely.
"I'm out. I'll let you know if I find something. I expect the same. Excuse me," he's out of the door in a flash. I grit my teeth. Good riddance. He was starting to get on my nerves with that brazen attitude.
"He has a point though." Taranya mumbles. "Three days and none of you checked up on her?" She looks between us.
"That woman treats me like an eyesore. I'm attracted to her, but I still have some self respect." I justify. "You should be asking him this question." I look at her husband pointedly. "Or his father. Aren't they supposed to be her family?"
